Ideal Length - Twin Tips

I bought my first pair of twin tips this summer from a friend of mine. They are last years 1080s with 912Ti bindings. He sold them to me for $300 bucks. Not bad considering they were only used twice! The only problem with these skis is they are pretty short. I am 6'0 tall, and the skis come up to my eyes, so i am guessing they are 167s. Should I be concerned at all that they are too short? I know that they will be pretty slow, but I only plan on using them in the parks. I have some X-Scream series 187s that get me around the mountain pretty well when we get dumped on.

I think they'll suit you fine. I'm on 164s which touch my nose and they'll most likely be fine for me since last year I was on 160s.

if you have more than one pair of skis, then short twins are the way to go. however if your totally poor like me and you can only afford one pair you gotta get one thats good for everything

short skis suck

THE SPRINKLER: get butt naked and then do a 1260 while taking a piss, i expect this trick to win many comps this coming season.

if your just startin you should be ok for awhile one you progres your going to want to go with a bigger ski. Im only 5'7 and ski on a 181 up from a 172. I center mount them and love it.

if they're not above your head, you are a pussy

even if you're just in the park, a 6 foot tall dude just looks ridiculous on 163's

depending on what you ski, they will bve hard to manouver in powder, but in the park they'll be pimp. I am 6 foot and ski of 180 and 188 rossi scratches. but you got a good deal on your skis you can't really decide what length you want, cause this was the only pair he had.

see, i am very satisfied with my other pair of 187s..the get the job done superbly. I can maneuver my 187s pretty well in the park, but i am so affraid of landing switch. I think these will work great. I only plan on using them on days where the snow is cruddy

can't blame you for riding them because you got a deal swung on them. But I hate we guys got hella short skis. They can't go as big, and they look like skiboards. Is that what you want? I didn't think so.

I am about an 8, i will sit next to a girl that is a 6 and drink till she is a 10 and then bring her home

your skis should be about as tall as you are, no matter what you are doing.

if your skiing on boards up to your nipples, your not skiing.

My friend owns a ski shop, so i get to test out all of his demo equipment for free. I also used to work there, and the funny part is, that when a ski says its 177, or 188, it is really a few cm shorter, overall. also, I am a more built guy, and i can't use shorter twins. They are easier to spin, but they are boring, less float, less pop, less stability somtimes.

That is my problem, I am 6'4' and need a park ski. I would feel like an idiot on 180s or smaller. I need a twin thats at least 185 and and my machetes are just too heavy and mounted too far back for the park. Any suggestions

ok the, i would say, the following, scratch bc 188, real length is 185, ak enemy, real length is 184, or atomic stomp 186, really 184. Scratches are easier to get, less expensive, ak enemys are absolutely sick lookin, the atomic stomp, would be perfect for me, being around your height, and 180 pounds, they have HUGE pop, stable like a bitch on... something that makes a bitch stable. But ehy are expensive and only atomic bindings will work.

petek - Thanks for the info! I would buy the stomps in a heartbeat, but I can't afford them, unless I can find an amazing deal. I can maybe afford the BCs and I don't know much about the AKs, do they ride well in the park and in the pipe?

Chickskier, its not about how small your skis are in length, its a question about how small the skis are in relation to your height, so don't worry about it!

I would say that they feel better in the pipe, then scratch bc, b/c of the sidecut, scratch bcs, are a lot better in nice clean pow. I also think they got better pop, tail is a bit softer then the enemy, plus enemy has the threat of delaming, but i hear that they fixed it

Skiing is the easiest to learn hardest to master. Flip that around and you know how snowboarding became so popular, but will never have the potential that skis will ever have.

But when do those come out? I need a ski for the whole season, and there is no guarentee i what sizes they come in. Plus they will be kinda pricey because they are a brand new model.

im about 5'7 and wanna get the concepts 178...will those be ok in the park and all mountain

??

have u eva seen a brother play mandalay?

5'7 concepts? yeah that'd be good for all mtn. As long as you weigh over 130... it's more about the weight than the height.

yeah, its easier to get a little shorter tiwn if you allready have all mtn skis, i picked up the 1080s this year @ 171 and i'm 5'11, kinda short skiis, but i can't spin worth crap, so i need it, plus whenever i'm really skiin then i can use my 183 machettes

-If people don't want 'Posers' in their sport they should quit skiing and take up knitting. I highly doubt that anyone 'Poses' as a knitter. -Jibtech

i totally agree with one of those last statements, your size is what ure comfy in. But bigger heavier guys, almost never wear skis shorter then them, if they can, me being one of them. If we allready have a all mtn ski, and are just lookin for a park ski. I also obesrved that taller ppl prefer fatter skis, easy, more stability in most of em, and we can handle them a bit better.

OK you guys are a lot of help. I'm looking primarily at the Mothership and Scratch BC right now. Hopefully, I can find a pair I can afford!
