no idea if it has been tried...but for powder skis would having fins like surfboards possibly do anything?
 
what happens when u hit the cat track at the bottom (if your at a resort). i dunno if it would work, cuz those skis would need super specific conditions. like even more so than pontoons and stuff (which is already an extremely small market). and in powder skis dont really wobble from side to side, theyre pretty stable already
 
well i did say strictly powder...and yea a market for such a ski would be tiny to none, but someone should try it unless its been done
 
fins on a surfboard help the board to track and plane down the surface of the wave...

Skis have edges to accomplish this, and due to the fact that on a wave you are moving with and against the water, while skiing you are pushing through or over...they are very different...

That said . Snowboards had fins back in 1981 - the burton backwoods. Recently the swallow tail has come back for similar reasons

on skis fins would have a negligable affect, the largest negative would be increased drag against the fin causing snow building up and quick abrupt speed changes when you transition through different snow layers
