Idea: NS mag??

after reading the thread about Freeskier, i thought it would be dope to have an NS mag. The magazine could feature member submitted content, pictures, articles, reviews etc.

I think it would be something like a print version of NS, but with all the best content and none of the crap.
 
its a good idea...but i think newschoolers was all about the web and more direct and made jsut to be a place to get to know people form the ski communtty....a mag would be nice, but i think NS schould wait a lil
 
that would be so sick, like hvae a section from all the park updates about the parks that year and shit that would be ill
 
if this were to go down i think it should be an e-mag like "drop magazine" because NS is internet based.
 
Its been tossed around many a time, and if I remember correctly wasnt there some sort of online NS publication at one point?
 
it sounds like a really sick idea but honestly what could you do in a magazine that you couldnt do on newschoolers. and a magazine takes a while to put together and print but stuff can be put up on newschoolers instantly. But hey if youve got some sick ideas go for it
 
oh yea I meant to imply that the idea has been completely scrapped more times than I can remember it being brought up
 
i had the same idea but never thought to post it. and it is a good idea, it should be done, just about everyone on this site would subscribe, and thats a lot of ppl
 
wonder why they havent. i mean they would make bank for selling advertisement space in their magazines. which im sure they charge quite a lot on the site too.
 
Full page ad in Freeze: $5,000 (that's almost 8 grand for us canadians).

Running a magazine is INSANELY expensive. I feel like if NS were to start a magazine, it would take away from the site as putting out six issues a year is an everyday process. Running NS is an everyday process as well. There's not enough days in the year to do both. I'm not killing the idea, I just think it's highly unlikely. Besides, when you read the news here, you can call me out on my bullshit right away as opposed to being in your bathroom being pissed off on the john. ;-)

 
I'm sure this has been brought up before.

Doesn't sound economical or plausible at all. I'd rather keep the site the way it is, and try and improve Freeskier
 
a full page add in freeskier is $ 7850 and a double page is $15,075 according to the media guide im looking at from SIA last year
 
Would you guys rather wait for something in print every month and pay for it, or be able to see it 24/7 on newschoolers for free.
 
A good idea, but I don't see how it could stack-up financially and what it could offer that this website doesn't (Apart from the media being in hard copy rather than electronic)
