Idea for a Jib

I was sitting around and had an amazing idea for a huge jib.

I was thinking of taking a wood pallet and screwing a thin sheet of hardboard (kind of thin, manufactured wood with a slippery topsheet, much cheaper than plastic) to the top of it. BOOM! You have a cheap, giant 40"x48" box.

Now, one question for all you experienced Jib builders out there. Is coping necessary? I was thinking of putting some angle iron or something similar on the edges. Opinions?

yeah I figured.

do you think the hardboard would work though? I really dont wanna drop $120 on some plexi

bwa, i dunno, i have two boxes (different construction but same dimensions) and i must say i prefer the PVC box and honestly, how many 3 dollar PVC pipes would i have to replace to get up to the same money as HDPE ?? (i got it for free and still i'd prefer PVC...)

I was setting some shit up in my backyard and i had to move my old compost container. It seems to be made out of something similar to hdpe. The outside part is just a big strip that is mad wide. Im not sure if you could find one but it seems like it would slide really well.
