the way ive heard from people involved, its more of an angry neighborhood not wanting to be "bothered" by a one day event.

leave it to the non-ski/board community to take a run at shutting down a fun event

its a one day event that few hundred people will attend...more of a novelty than anything else

that said the concept is awsome and i wish the competors nothing but the best

 
i live in the bay area and there was an article in one of the newspapers the other day about it and it was talking about the main reason being this monastery is on fillmore street and they have this huge like meditation thing going on the same day and the monks are all pissed off cause they think it's gonna be distracting.

i doubt if it gets canceled though, they don't have that much time.

yea that shit goes down saturday, its wednesday... they have to start building that shit early friday... that means the process is already happening, all the celebrities, filmers, helpers, athletes are in SF or will be there tommorrow... if they do cancel, it has to be tommorrow before shit gets built... and i dont think they could... money has already been spent... mosely did a good job of stalling everybody, saying everything is alright and taken care of....

exactly ^, although in the grand scheme of things we wont bring in a TON of money..hotel accomodations in SF arent cheap, so they already have me for 400, not counting the taxi's/meals/shit ill pay for while there

but, im sure it will still go off..or i hope

 
^^ hate to say but have u guys been to SF lately...they are not exactly hurting for money...especially the fremont street area

the vendors and restraurants will likely lose money during this even as their normal crowd will be far far away...how many newschool thugs are gonna throw down 100 bucks for a two person dinner???

no denny's or McD's nearby...just high end fancy SF bistros and cafes

Anyway, a gas station we pass. We got gas, and ran off to get grub.It was a nice little pub in the middle on nowhere. Anywhere woulda been better. I ordered enchiladas and I ate 'em, Ali had the fruit punch.

 
my question is...why SF? wouldn't it make more sense to do it in a more competition oriented location so that people wouldn't freak? mosely i think made a bad choice with having it there. and as for the monks, well, theyr'e monks, who cares what they say.

Well ..this event has been in the works for a while now. We are one of the sponsors of the event. And we are still going up there. I cannot believe that the city of SF could give approval for the comp. And then at the last minute threaten to pull the plug because of some residents who are affraid of damage from the crowds.

As a sponsor...I already have alot of money put into this thing. I am really hoping they can pull this shit off. If not some sponsores are going to be pretty bitter...

Bottom line the city of SF should not have givien the permit in the first place if they were not set with their fears and concerns of this event.

and the idea for the event came up when mosely was ahvign diner on that very street did it not??? so to me it seems liek the perfect place to hold the event. that is if im not mistake abotu the mosely dinenr thing.

well, I thought it was built in SF because it gives a cool urban look to the whole thing, it's more original. And why SF? because it's already a huge slope, well thats what I was thinking I dont know exactly what the setup is like

yah this sucks ass. i'm hella pissed it got canceled.

but it was SF for all the reasons everyone gave.. plus moseley lives in the bay area and it was planned for his birthday so i think that made him want to do it at home.

this is such bullshit its canceled and gavin newsome sucks.
