What's up dawgies.

Title.

I have 14/15 nomad skinnies, and the standard 105 mm RKRs. The skinnies have the same chipping tendency and frequency as a hick's teeth. I'm a full blown icelantic junkie, but I am starting to lose faith. The RKRs are holding up fine (knock on wood.)

So basically the tl;dr is

do ur fucking icelantic's topsheets chip dawgie

i have the same sknys and have only ridden them once so far, but have noticed a little chipping already. cosmetics aren't really a huge deal to me tho, so as long as the ski itself doesn't fall apart i'm good.

are yours the ones with the snake skin like topsheet or the more traditional ones? My buddies old keepers chipped and they have the old topsheets, but three of my other friends with the snake skin ones are holding up great after a season or two of abuse. Keep in mind, they are pow skis and dont see a ton of crossing like you get with grabs and rails.

Snake skin, the skinnies are actually designed for park as far as I know.

the skis are meant for park yes, but the topsheet are specific to a type of riding. You could always take a file to them and round them off a bit. that would help for sure.

Damn that sucks. I don't ride a ton of park though, I just like messing around everywhere, so I'm hoping they may hold up a little better. Do you do a lot of rails and stuff like that?

Every single sandwich constructed (and most cap constructed) ski in the world will chip. Just bevel the topsheets with a palm sander and that will help. Besides its just cosmetics.

Watch MN skiers and that'll be what I ski

Chips dont do anything. If you ditch em ill take em off your hands then

honestly topsheet chipping doesn't mean anything. take some sandpaper and bevel them to reduce the chipping, but it doesn't really matter, my volkls chipped like a motherfucker and i dont have any edge cracks or pullouts after a season and a half on them. as long as it doesnt effect performance you shouldnt care about it

I have this years danollies, and the top sheet chipped a lot when they were new but it seems like they've been chipping a lot less lately (probably because I've chipped of what can be easily chipped off). I bought the skis knowing this would happen so it doesn't bother me much.

Does anyone else have a problem with edges denting and forming "bubbles" in the base a couple mm from the dented edge? i ski park with the danollies almost exclusively so its no surprise that this type of denting is occurring. My problem is is that on all of the pairs of skis I've owned, i have never seen the "bubble" in the base form. How do i fix it?

My rayzrblaydz chipped super bad due to me attempting new tricks and what not, after I beveled them a bunch they were fine babe

most topsheet chips typically happen when the ski is new because the edges are so sharp.

With my park skis I always file down the edges for rails, but I'm sure that helps with the chips.

i also file the top sheet down just a little on a 45 angle and I find it helps a lot

i also file the corner of the top sheet down just a little on a 45 angle and I find it helps a lot, but maybe ON3P's are just the shit

That bubble is cause by the teeth of the edge, when you get and edge compression the metal breaks free from the epoxy and the teeth have to go somewhere. The real concern you should have is how much water can now get in where the epoxy has shattered. Between the edge and sidewall you're guaranteed to have a gap. Seal with epoxy, ignore the 'bubble' if it's not too bad.

Or take into a shop you trust, they'll do it right
