I'm 5 foot 8, 175, and own the 190. Logged probably 60(70?) days on them. I was originally apprehensive about the length -- until i got on 'em. I've got mine mounted 3 back from true center.
First of all, Pow: it's 125 underfoot. it's obviously gonna float and stomp. It's not hooky, it is comfy in the untouched and end of the day churned up. It's a righteous booter ski.
Variable: Very nimble for a fat ski. In the longer length, with a nearly symmetrical shape, it smears well, but the stiffness underfoot is quite confidence inducing.
Hardpack: fuckin awesome. longer turning radius than say, a bentchetler. Carves like a dream, and doesn't chatter nearly as much as i expected. I detuned mine for two days in Summit County. Had a blast on rails, a little less so on jumps, but i'm sure that had more to do with the fact i hadn't skied park in two and a half months.
Bottom line, it's probably my favorite offering of all of the skis i've tried in the oversized, symmetrical(ish), full rocker category.
HOWEVER - I got an opportunity to get on some skis that occupied the 103-113 category this winter. One of which was the Nomad RKR that Icelantic is releasing this fall. I can honestly say that it is one of the the best all around skis around. I realized i don't need the massive footprint that the gypsy offers.
I'll probably reserve the gypsy for BC jumping missions and those unreal, life-altering in bounds days.
