does anyone here ice fish? i wanna try it but dont know what i need to start besides a fishing pole and maybe a drill of some sort

you'll need a drill that will make a hole about a foot across, a chair to sit in, warm clothes, and all your fishing gear. its pretty easy. make a hole in the ice and then drop your line and wait for a nibble.

i never tried it but id like to sometime, if i were you id hit up a fishing store in ur area and get some info from there

I ice fish on the st lawrence every winter and my uncle has all this shit for it like an auger for drilling and these little teepee ish things that do something that i dont fully understand. its pretty fun but ive never really caught anything

you need an auger that drills a 6 inch hole, thatll run u about 50 bucks, plus an ice fishing rod, with can cost as little as 5 bucks for a piece of shit. a bucket helps to

depending on where you're fishing you might want traps, so you can set multiple lines. At least that's how we do it on my lake.

If you really want to ice fish here is what your need.

either Tip ups or a small ice fishing jigging rod.

Depending there jigs or some people use live bait or salted dead minnows

Warm clothing.

3 packs of smokes or a couple tins of Dip

4 cases of beer (something white trash, got to fit in)

(these last two are needed it gets pretty boring out there)

A chair

And a lot of fucking time

Ice fishing is actually a pretty good time if you get a couple of friends to go with you, drink so beers and hang out.

just got back from my gf's dad's fishing shack and heres how we fished.
Walked in, turned on the heat, took off jacket, turned on both, yes both 40 in flat screens, drank ton of beer, caught 23 fish, stumble home.
Not trying to claim, just showing you how serious some people take ice fishing here in MN
