Ice/shaved ice machine for dryland setup?

What's up NS!

I'm looking to try and buy a type of ice grinder/shaver for my dryland set up. I know it's best to just go to a ice rink and pile up a bunch of the snow, but the nearest one is a couple hours away and would become a major hassle to do this every few days.

I was thinking since I have one of the high capacity freezers that I could freeze a bunch of buckets of ice, then use some type of shaver thing for snowcones, and then just spread it out over our dryland slope for some extra speed.

Anyone else have any experience doing this? and does anyone know of any makeshift ways that I could shave the mass quantities of ice without having to buy a snowcone machine and rip it apart?

Thanks guys

ask this guy for help

It would melt faster than you could grind it.

Just go to a local hockey rink and take the shavings from the Zamboni

dude you'd have to buy a fucking tree grinder to shave the amount of ice you would need.

Haha that would be fucking great if somebody did that.

Actually, this has been attempted by the STEPT crew. It didn't work…

speaking from my own experience, you can actually just get a fair amount of ice and cover the intended landing area with it. you can either buy bags of it at the grocery store, or just make a helluva lot. I know a guy with a commercial ice maker and used to "borrow' a large cooler full of of his ice once in a while.

You can smash it up in a garbage can with a cinder block.

Once you lay it down on your set up make sure to salt it good. You can add a little unsalted snow to the kicker if you want something to grip.

If you're going through a lot of effort salt that shit.

Auckland university in here in NZ towed a trailer on ice up a hill and chucked it in the tree grinder and built a jump

I think what would you like to happen is a lot costly! Also it will take some time and you can not do it alone, which means you need a help from some carpenter, etc. and you have to pay for their salary and will cost you lots of money. Unlike you'll just load your car with a diesel, then travel for hours, even once a week then that's it!

Use a woodchipper. Its what we use at the hill I work at for our pre-season rail jam. We use a massive 250hp one but we tested it with a small one from home depot and it worked. You can probably find one on craigslist for a decent price.
