okei heard ppl talk about this alot but is it that simple just to have a bag with ice and have it on my leg ? and how long should it be there ? should i do something before i have on ice or some exersice after i ice them ? or.. just, how do i do this ?

^ if you need to put some ice anywhere on your body it's obviously cus you took a good spill and you're bruised. putting ice over your bruise will make it numb, therefore the pain will go away momentarily.. it will also help it get not too swolen. it's kinda obvious dude.

Ice can also be used to remedy soreness and speed the flow of blood through an area to help flush out lactic acid. Ice is also useful for shin splints....dude.

Alright, this seems like a thread comprised mostly of 8 year olds so far but anyway...If you want to ice a specific area, first put a towel over the spot and then the bag of ice or ice pouch or whatever cold thing you have. then its 15-20 min. on and 15-20 min. off. You don't need to exercise or anything. If you have sore legs from skiing (not from impact) you could use ice, but I find that after you shower, run cold water over your legs only for 5-10 min and that will help speed blood to that area, as the rest of your body will be warm from the shower.

Just do 20 on 20 off as ppl have said, if you still have snow use that it works better because you can mold it around your leg better in a plastic bag. Only thing you shouldn't do if your icing your legs is to ice directly behind your knees because you risk damaging the peroneal nerve which can cause a condition know as drop-foot.

My father had knee surgery last year.

The doctors told him to freeze some water and rub it on his knee. the iceblock melts and the ice water cools the knee.

You have to rub it though. Don't hold it on one place for to long.
