Ian Compton joins Nordica

Thank god. Oh and I didn't mean my last post to have anything to do with Nordica. I love what Nordica has been doing lately just not super stoked about Ian leaving Line.

Dear Nordica,

I respect your recent drive in the freeskiing scene. You have completely reshaped your image, brought on some sick riders, and opened a huge door into a new market. That being said, you guys are some serious swagger jackers.

doesnt suprise me, lots of athletes get real tired of the line life, its not as smooth as you would think. its good Ian is gettin this done!
 
Noooo this is BAD. Nordica is going to try to turn Ian into something that he is not and deprive him from all the creatively that Line enlisted in him....
 
Bcuz Nordica is a very "mainstream"/ big ski company. They will try to dictate Ian to fit their image. Line gave Ian much freedom and that freedom translated into him being very creative with his skiing. I just think that Nordica is going to try to turn Ian into some type of image that doesn't represent himself and thus his skiing will poorly reflect the image that Nordica is trying to create, like honestly look at that phony ass photo that nordica posted of him wearing their sweater...

Hi. I'm the photographer behind the aforementioned photo. The photo was result of me spending a couple of days with Ian & Evan in Northern Vermont. While I was there I found out about Ian's decision to move to Nordica. Figuring that it was "news worthy," I'd later do the Q&A for Freeskier. That photo, and a few more, accompany that Q&A here:

1.) The photo is not 'shopped.2.)The team manager (Evan Williams) and Ian Compton are really good friends. Williams was once on Line like Ian. I'm pretty sure that Evan is not that manipulative of Ian.

funny about all this hype.i bet the contract is for less than 10gs a year for a full time job. so he'll be making $833.33 a month.

skiing is hilarious.

you sign with a big snowboard company and get this kind of press release, you're looking at twice this money if not 5 times.

i like ian, but they signed him into below poverty level.
 
ok, lets break this down:300-400 rent

100-400 gas

200-400 food

200-400 insurance

and the list goes on.

a major ski company is exploiting this kid for below poverty level living and trying to increase their bottom line while doing it. the guy who signed him isn't making $833.33 dollars a month and probably has company health insurance. once you kids get into reality and not parents teenage living, you'll realize ian is going to be scrapping and scrapping to live. this is bogus money and nordica knows it! they know they are underpaying ian beyond belief, they know hes going to be eating shit food, barely paying bills, and putting pressure on him to perform at another level than he's used to.

NORDICA IS JUST AS BAD AS SWEATSHOPS IN CHINA IN REGARDS TO PAY! ONLY DIFFERENCE THE SKIING JOB, SO WE'LL JUST LET THEIR EXPLOITATION SLIDE! YA NORDICA AND ALL YOU OTHER COMPANIES WHO EXPLOIT YOUNG BOYS TO INCREASE YOUR PRODUCT SALES!
 
You are all fucking idiots. Those numbers your throwing out if they are true all they are his base pay. He has other sponsors, and he also films. So thats not that only source of money. This is like "how does david lesh get all his money" Stop making shit up. I think Mr. Compton knows what he is doing.
 
This and in te interview Compton said he lives in his cabin with his sister that was built by their grandpa or something. Don't have to pay rent on that. Plus it seems that Compton is a pretty minimalistic guy
 
He gets paid for the weak, gets paid by tomahawk, and could have a job on the side if he so chose. as far as 10k goes, that is a really big contract in the park skiing scene.

and obviously i know you are trolling, so i gave you a snack.

We CHOOSE to ski and it's the way the sport is. Don't blame the company.

btw I would be pretty surprised if Nordica is paying him less, but I don't know
 
the weak is also NS TV. he gets paid a cent per view. last season alone his 14 episodes had 119,579 views thats 119,579 cents or $1,195.79... just saying
