it depends on the run, if its a gnarly black mogul field then I'll ski it forward, if its a pretty average run then I'll go switch as much as possible...
im usually going back and forth alot, i love to do 180's mid run...but lately the ski patrol have been really sticky about us skiers going switch outside the park...its gay i know but o well
switch is harder than going forwards cuase you cant get the same control so its way more fun for me than going forwards which is literaly easier than walking
I try to ski switch as much as possible, popping off rollers in the middle of a run is baller and just flying down switch. Plus the ski patrol, mtn. safety, and other people that usually bitch have been pretty chill lately.
definitely one of my favorite things to do, i just love riding switch down the whole mountain, especially on weekday's when there's no one around, no worries about other people, just making huge carving turns across the whole mountain
I ski switch all the time on groomed or otherwise uninteresting trails. I'll ski both ways, just spinning around and having fun. It's even better now that I'm getting better at carving switch.
I think that the biggest air I ever got was switch. It was today and I tryed a 0 and didn't scrub speed into the jump like I would going forward. It was the first tiem I hit any considerable sized jump switch.
if you ski a groomer switch....it gonna be done right. you throw your edges down and get the switch carve going. don't do the straight line v bomb, because that gayper to me.
switch is the best, im usually %50-%0 though because like most people i like going down and looking for places to air or tap or stall and that shit. I love popping one's mid way and i also just love doing butters down the run, skiing is fun
that is so freaking dumb i've never heard of or had that happen, with that logic they might as well get mad at every snowboarder on the hill because they have a blind side all the time. what idiots.
I love cruising down a run switch like everybody on twins, but I'm just wondering, how many people can are actually really fricken good at it? I mean like slalom or moguls or that kinda shit.
I've gotten good at carving big gs turns switch I don't think I've ridden a groomer forwards all year. I love passing racers switch. I've even had a lady try and tell me that I was going the wrong way. She was trying to ski beside me while screaming some gibberish about how I'm going to crash. The look on her face made it all worth it.
I would love to ski switch all the time.. but my mountain is full of douches who think i'm just trying to show off and not actually just trying to get more comfortable carving backwards.
Interesting story actually, instructor clinics, we were doing some filmed training on the racecourse, I'm not a racer, in fact I have my twins on, another instructor was like "dude those things go both ways right, I know! You should ski the course backwards!" of course I'm all for it, first part of the course went well, come around one of the last gates and me thinking I'm hot shit is going way to fast and too close to the gate, I end up somehow clotheslining myself on the gate and sliding down headfirst the rest of the course. Yay
i suck at skiing switch. but i still try, but just skiing a normal groomed run super fast with nice big turns. nothing beats that, other then powder of course.
Word. Our mountain was just having a ski patrol clinic and I was ripping through them switch the entire day and they just stood there and stared at me.
anyone else love hitting a little bump doing a 180 and carving off switch? even better when there's a ton of people staring at you either confused or amazed at such a simple thing. even when there aren't people there it's so fun.
