I wish i started off skiing

after being convinced to make a ns account by a friend, and just reading all about skiing and watching ski vids and everything, i have come to realize something. skiing looks so much better than snowboarding. i snowboard, and i can fully see how dope sick skiing shit really is. switch 1260 octograbs look a billion times better than any spin variation a snowboarder can do. im not sure if this just has to do with the amount of different grabs skiiers can do, but whatever it is, iv got 100% respect. and also, the attitude it seems with skiing is a lot doper too. way too many snowboarders have the 'thug' style. the way that skiing has brought back the vibrant color 1 pieces and just the fun mentality that a lot of snowboarders forget about i think is just so cool.

so when i think about it, i really wish i started skiing when i was younger, because as i do love to snowboard a lot and would never cross over (too much time wasting learning the basics before i could get good), i just have 100% respect.

fag

just kidding...but a lot of skiers say the same about boarding, i think both are fucking sick. and snowboarding deffinetly looks just as cool...i dunno the grass is always greener.

yeah man i think you are probably right.

iv never thought of that quote when thinking of this.

word, like my boy doug...hes a boarder but is pretty much a skier at heart, but theres too much effort involved to switch

speaking of doing fun shit though man, today we set up this bonk over one of those manikan punching bags and tapped his face.

looked kinda like this mah fucka

Completely agree, but I did decide to switch to skiing. Best thing I've done, I was able to pick it up pretty quick.

its funny that you mention how 'fun' skiing seems.

because i think the dead opposite.

skiing is so lame right now, way to serious and noone is trying anything different. how weak was the US OPEN? i dont give a shit about 1260 variations. my favorite thing is watching snowboarders ollie over shit and do tailblocks and shit.

anyways...i lost my train of thought

i dono who you ride with but every skier i know has fun ollie'ing shit and goofin around every day.

so true, I started out snowboarding and looking back it was soo hard compared to skiing. skiing's so much more fun and I find I can do a lot more stuff. also two planks are better than one, it's a fact of life. (you can stagger them, you catch an edge a lot less, etc.)

by the way (not to claim or anything) it doesn't take that much effort to switch, I skied for the first time last january teaching myself, and I was skiing with confidence after a couple of days. I don't know how good I am, but I'm better than I ever will be at boarding (and I took snowboarding lessons). I did take a ski lesson in december and that helped a lot, but you can teach yourself easily.

do it

I am on the same page with the respect for skiers. I love the media of freeskiers. And I think their attitude is great.

But I am proud to be a snowboarder.

Since i'm one of like 10 freeskiers on the hill i ski with borders all the time. i have respect for them but they have none for the two planks. Bastards

i thought about switching to skiing, but than i realised i have like 2 grand put in to boarding and if i wanted to start skiing all that would be waisted, plus i would have to buy ski stuff.

If you have become bored with snowboarding, be creative (like in Thanks Brain!). Just try fun shit, and you will enjoy the sport more. For example, I just went out in my yard and learned butter somersault things. Just dick around, and you will have more fun.

In your original post, you talk about how 'thug' snowboarding has become. But since you are new to NS, you probably haven't seen the gangsta image in skiing on this site. Just by looking at member names like "Jea_Skiier" or something like that you can tell that the gangsta image was brought about by snowboarding, and now it has become prevalent in skiing.

I see snowboarding becoming less 'gangsta' and more accepting, while skiing still has a few years to go. As said numerous times in other threads, skiing is heavily influenced by trends in snowboarding.

P.S. I found it ironic that your name is "802thug", but you denounce the 'thug' image of boarding. hehehe.

"P.S. I found it ironic that your name is "802thug", but you denounce the 'thug' image of boarding. hehehe."

after i posted i realized that but i have found this site has influenced me more. therefore it is time for a new change in the name

No worries, lol. :)

I remember in 8th grade, I thought I was the motherfuckin' man. I wore my baseball cap, with a winter hat OVER it....

...during spring/summer.

Hahaha, yes it does. But it is addicting, and it is comparable to crack.

By the way, welcome to NS :) There are plenty of snowboarders on here, anyways.

Yo man, I'm with you... Thats why I love riding with snowboarders, they make it so fun... I dunno, its not really about the sport though, I think its the individual, you know?

Either way, I ski and ride, so I win haha jk

yeah your right about the individual thing.

the crew i ride with is pretty much 1/2 skiers and 1/2 snowboarders.

there are some skiers that are bitches all the time, and i can say the same about snowboarders.

but i think after reading all of these posts i kinda realize that you can really make of the sports what you want, and it can be anything you want

well jake if you hadn't noticed, other skiers on this site welcomed snowboarders on here

and i wasnt driving the car, i just took the blame so you would get pissed at me and not max

you needed to chill that day, because it could have easily turned into a successful day if not so much hating

how so?

by bitching at max the whole ride up for laughing/talking?

(im not going to mention the getting pissed about the car bc i would have been pissed too)

but dude seriously. we never get a good day of urban or anything bc everyone always gets so fucking pissed over the gayest shit. max and i have both realized it, and if all of us just chilled out for a moment on sunday, it could have been pretty chill

just switch, i switched to skiing at the begging of this year and it was only hard for about two weeks, after about a month it was natural and know im much better at skiing then i was at snowboarding like 3 months later

true true. but shutup you didnt just take the blame so he wouldnt get mad at me. YOU FUCKING TOLD ME TO KEEP MOVING OVER RIGHT. 'KEEP COMING, YEAH U GOT ROOM, KEEP COMING'

but i dont care about that anymore. (and jake shouldnt have forced me to drive after not driving for 3 months anyways!)

but yea, you guys can continue the quarrell !

i

yeah im kind of bummed out that i didnt try skiing. you have so much more control when you're on skiis. im too lazy to switch, i dont wanna be pizza slicing it up

heheheheheh

but to the thread creator...

fuck, i forgot what i was gunna say, something to do with me thinking snowboarding is fun/dope, and i almost started doing it again (but still skiing obv.)

oh, i kinda remember, i like the snowboarding semi tight pants thing with a huge shirt.

same boat man.

started off skiing though. then snapped my ski unintentionally of course.. didnt feel like spending the money for new ones. (i broke the binding too) so since we already had a snowboard sittin around in the basement that was handed down to us and in pretty good condition. i just started boarding.

but now im really bored of snowboarding, ive lost all my motivational drive for it. it just aint fun. and i see other snowboarders and just think the whole concept looks goofy.. i really want to go back to skiing. gotta buy all new shit though.

not really, its much harder to spin on a snowboard than a ski. the only thing easy is that we can 5050 a rail, while you guys always have to spin onto it.

haha yeah.

i rock semi tight pants with L tees at school-love that style

some people hate on it but i find well fitted pants to be real comfortable

a snug fit

you need to do your own thing and stop worrying about your image and what others think about you. just do what you enjoy

i'm not sure where you got the idea that i was worrying about my image / what others think of me..

because that is not what i am doing at all

didnt read much of the posts

but to the original post

I hate to say this, but attitudes for skiing are all over the place.

it is generally cut in half

one side thinks that it should stay generic and progress along with the mainstream pros, the other side looks at stuff differently, I(as others) still follow the pros, but as a more mellow way. I dont look into the biggest stuff, slow, stylish.

although im a big mountain skier, and don't ski park, therefore, i am not into the newest tricks and pushing to be the top on the mountain.

I havent really gotten anywhere with this point, I have lost myself

so...+1

yea perfect point, right on spot. skiing is for sure split into 2 diverse opinions and are branched off after that sometimes. but the snowboarders i shred with are all soo chill, and all about having fun!
