I was driving really fast and...

1) File for a reduction

2)Don't mail it in, go in front of a judge you might get lucky

3)Save your $$ your insurance is going up

Go to Mexico! The cops are completely incompetent!

You must have been going fast as fuck. I got one in MT in a different county than i lived in, 20 bucks for 10 over even though i was going 16 over.

I got it in a small town in a progressive slowing zone where there are like 3 or 4 signs that go 70, 50, 40 and then 30.... she said she caught going 50 at the 40 sign... it was kinda gay because I was totally stopped before the intersection that the signs were slowing me down for and I was visibly slowing down. Also the court is 420 mi from my home... its in superior MT

just don't pay it and they won't do anything.

unless you get pulled over in that state again...then you'll go to jail.

but seriously if you don't plan on going through there then don't pay it and you'll be fine.

oh and 50 mph is not fast. it's only 10 over the posted speed limit.

I dont get it? whats so good about getting a speeding ticket in montana? (sarcasm) but whats so bad about montana over any other state?

It depends on what state you live in, but if the two states don't have traffic court reciprocity, and you never intend to go to Montana ever again (lets face it, why would you?), you technically don't have to pay it.

yes, this is a legal fact. before anyone calls bullshit, look it up.

All States as of 2005 are Required through New Federal Regulation to comply with and make available to all other states reciprocal driver records. It Is not a matter of a ticket needing to be reported to your state anymore. It can be found in any other state. If the infraction occurred then the information is available to all states in the newly integrated drivers record databases. The reciprocal requirement extends to all states being able to automatically suspended or deny a drivers license in any other state without need of request until such time as the originating jurisdictions suspension or violation requirements have been satisfied.

this might work.

I realize you live in the US and im in canada but i have heard this works.

Here if you get X many of "points" on your licence, you lose it. and apparantly points only go on if the ticket transaction is complete

COMPLETE urban legend, but apparantly if your ticket is say $150, you mail them a cheque for your ticket with the amount of $153 on it. 3 bucks over, and apparantly they have to send you a cheque back for the difference, dont cash that cheque because then the transaction will never complete, points wont go on your licence, and insurance in theory wont go up.

Dont know if it works or if it will work for you but it might be worth a try

And they would put a warrant for your arrest in MT after you don't show to court or pay it. Sure, you can't get extradited for a traffic ticket but it will catch up to you in the long run. If you ever want to work for the Government or want to take your local states Bar Exam.

The cop made me pay on the spot because I was from "outa state" Not sure thats legal but I got a receipt for it. But she told me that I could not leave without paying so what am I supposed to do say no? Anyways I was going to see if I could plead innocent and defend myself via mail and see If I could work a deal to not get it on my record for insurance purposes. For these small towns its usually about the money right?

ive heard that in montana, when you get a ticket, you kinda just pay it and then youre done; and theres no followup or points or anything. especially if you paid it on the spot....

ii know in some states if your ticketed out of state and get a speeding ticket your insurance doesn't get effected neither does your license

I've heard if you go to court to argue it, the cop will most likely not show and you will either have the ticked lessened, or have to make a donation/community service or stuff like that.

That dosen't work anymore.. I've tried that and I've lose 3 poitns for speeding... so pay it or go to the court... here in QC, if you go in court.. and the cop don't show up, you win ! but you'be to paid for the audience and everything...

I cant tell if your being sarcasmatic right now or not, but he didnt really have any control over the matter if it was a two page thread or not. if anything you made it a two page thread by posting the last post on the first page. However, this has nothing to do with the topic. So good day!
