I want to slide cars

I want to build a car, made it do sliding things (buying either a 240 or an e30 325i in the next couple weeks) I realize that a lot of people probably wouldn't use one of these as a daily for going to a ski hill. I was wondering if anyone on here has any experience driving a drift car, up and down from a ski hill.

no it wouldn't be scraping the ground.

no it won't have a welded differential.

yes I will be running proper tires.

tl;dr, will a lightened rwd car make it up a ski hill with proper tires.

With a good tire and good driving skills you can make it depending on the car. Ive seen a guy with a z4 a few times on snowy days at the ski hill. If you can find a fairly stock 240sx thats a good start but most with mods and sr20 swaps will be overpriced and thrashed on. An e36 m3 or somehow even an NA series miata could slide about. lol welded diffs are getting so overrated these days

I drove a Volvo 245 to the ski hill for years. No issues with good winter tires.

I've also driven a full size pickup up the hill in 2wd as well. No problemo with some weight in the back.

I only use 4wd when it's absolutely necessary. I run good tires and carry weight in my box, and I've never ditched it.

Just get good tires and you'll be gucci. Get some of those Finish made tires that are impossible to pronounce and spell but the company begins with an H, I think...

I drove a 240 wagon for 2 years with good tires and i think 1-2 sandbags in the trunk and it was fine except for getting out of the driveway after lots of snow since my plow guy would box me in but on the road it was fine and so easy to slide since it was heavy and had very little power.

Nokian Hakkapeliitta! I had a set of those, best snow tires out.

I use my ix E30 touring as my winter daily. My coupe is my summer daily.

Get a 240 man they are way better for going sideways than an e30. Get into spec e30 racing if you want to go fast in an e30.

get a subaru and go rallying instead.

For real though but for cheap money get a set of gravel/snow tires, a skid plate and go rallycross doesn't even need to be awd

that is true, but the amount of garage kept e30's that are going for like 4 grand where I live is kinda fucked up. Pretty sure if I found a clean one it would make for a better daily than one of the plenty beaten 240s.
