I want to go to windells next year

Ok so I really want to go to windells next year. The main reason for this is that my parents dont ski so they dont like to take me anywhere to do it. Ive been skiing for 10 years. I live in NC and ive never skiied out of state. Thats a pretty big problem. So i asked my parents if I could go to windells on MY OWN money next year and they said no. What should I do?

A little bit of both. My dad doesent think I would have the money. They have no problem takeing my sister to L.A. though. Theyve done that twice

Chances are that is not your "own money," unless your over 16 and have a legit job, it is going to be very hard to make 2k+ at your age. Money from grand parents and other shit like that doesn't really count, because your parents will most likely want you to save that money and not blow it all on a expensive ski camp.
If its legit all your money, just explain to them how this is really what you want to do, and you know how much it really costs. I don't really think they would care as long as you present yourself in a non-retarded fashion.
However if its not your own money, then I guess just beg your parents to see if you can go. Because it is gonna be entirely up to them.

Talk to them about it as a life experience, not just a ski camp. I never went to Windells but I went to Mt. Hood with a team and its a crazy, fun, awesome experience that I'm super glad I had. 14 of the most ridiculously action packed and fun days of my life, I'm super glad I went. If you get into the life experience, one chance to do it, childhood memories zone then your parents might just let you go. They care about you so much in that way that it would probably work if done right.

I had a job last summer and I've saved alot and ive probably got enoygh for like 5 sessions in my bank account. I just got off the phone with my dad and he said I have a 0% chance of even going skiing in virginia. He has absolutely no reason for that. He says we cant afford it but im paying for it. i give up on skiing

Fuck that shit, you're 17. Pay for your session, get your ass on a greyhound and find your way over to Mt. Hood. They can't legally stop you if you want to go and its on your own money.

I'd rather finish school and get a good job than ski for a week. Ive still got plenty of time to convince them... thast 4 years havent been on my side though

Well i guess im not going but they offered to pay for my season pass nxt year. Here in nc you can get a season pass to all 7 mtns for like 700. Theres only 3 ok mtns and App has a great park

fuck that, pay for Windells AND your season pass, and then buy your parents something nice to shut them up. If you will be 17, then you have plenty of ways to get yourself to Hood and back, and obviously enough cash to make it happen.

Well I dont have a car and the only kid at my mtn that I kno of that ever goes there disapeared. I havent seen him since december but i think hes been out west. Plus I dont really kno him. hes got some cool edits tho.

greyhound, jetblue? just the tip of the iceberg... so many different ways for you to get there if its really something thats important to you. shit start walking now and you may even be there in time

wtf is the reason their giving why u cant? honestly just get a job, work 20 hour weeks (at least) and you'll have the money in no time. like for real, you can get the money for just the camp within like 2 and a half months.
when it comes down to it, if you want to go, just go out and make it happen. and if your persistent enough your parents will understand. parents like to see hard work from their kids, so if you work hard and keep a job for camp, plus some savings and whatever else, theyll be chill
and trust me, a week at windells is worth every penny. you will never have more fun or learn more in a park in such a short time, and you'll never get bored on campus if you rollerblade/skate or like trampolines.

I ski southeast too. and i say if you have the money you have to go no matter how you get there. It sucks major balls down here except App's parks, so go because us southeast kids have nothing to progress on besides our yearly trips out west. soo with that said take your 5k pack your shit on a bus and ski bum the rest of your life if you really have the passion to move on from NC. haha go big bro

I was in the same position as you, and my parents wouldn't let me go to camp (MHSSC) even though I live in Seattle which is only 4 hours away. I did end up skiing 1 day down there in the public park in August, and I'm very glad that I had a chance to do that. Now I'm a senior and I'm 18 and I have a job and money, so I already told them very clearly that this is my last opportunity to go, so I'm going to capitalize on it. Tough luck dude, but get good grades, and keep saving money and I bet you'll be able to go next year.

Hooray for senior summer.

If you offered to pay with your own money I don't know what's going on in your parent's heads. You have some time still to talk to them before summer, but anyways, good luck convincing them.

lol i was actually planing to go next year. Im gunna be 17 when I go and I'll be going into jnior year. Ohio schools fucked me up so I was behind when we moved here
