The newest version of the much respected Nissan Skyline GT-R is finally making its way to the U.S. market!

The all new Nissan GT-R will be available in the U.S. sometime in early 2008.

• VR-series twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V6.

• 480 hp @ 6,800 rpm. 430 lb-ft torque @ 3,200–5,200 rpm.

• Dual overhead camshafts with variable intake-valve timing.

• Cast aluminum cylinder block with high-endurance/low-friction plasma-sprayed bores.

• IHI twin turbochargers, one per cylinder bank.

• Pressurized lubrication system with thermostatically controlled cooling.

• ATTESA ET-S All-Wheel Drive (AWD) with independent rear-mounted

transaxle integrating transmission, differential and AWD transfer case.

• Rigid, lightweight carbon-composite driveshaft between engine and transaxle.

• Electronic traction control plus 1.5-way mechanically locking rear differential.

Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC-R) with three driver-selectable settings:

Normal (for daily driving, controls brakes and engine output), R-Mode

(for ultimate performance, utilizes AWD torque distribution for

additional vehicle stability) and Off (driver does not want the help of

the system).

• Hill Start Assist prevents rollback when starting on an incline.

• 6-speed Dual Clutch Transmission with three driver-selectable modes:

Normal (for maximum smoothness and efficiency), Snow (for gentler

starting and shifting on slippery surfaces), and R mode (for maximum

performance with fastest shifts).

• Fully automatic shifting or full sequential manual control via gearshift or steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

• Dual clutch design changes gears in less than 0.5 second (0.2 second in R mode).

• Downshift Rev Matching (DRM).

• Predictive pre-shift control (in R mode) based on throttle position, vehicle speed, braking and other information.

Did they set a price for it yet stateside yet?

It looks like an awesome machine. Only part that bums me is the lack of a true 6-speed with clutch-pedal transmission. The paddle-shifting, although better performing, takes away from the experience of driving.

yeah, but i figured it deserved a thread. haha.

it is one of the sickest cars i have seen in a while.

i said to myself before i opened this thread, if this isnt a skyline then the thread maker is wrong. well, you are right, i do want this car so bad

i dont know the price yet.

i know what you mean about the shifting. i bet it is still a huge rush to drive it though.

Price (yen, consumption tax included):

GT-R 7,770,000

GT-R Black edition 7,927,500

GT-R Premium edition 8,347,500

Subtract two zero's from the yen totals and you will get the US price.

no shit. look one post above you.

that is still not a reason to make the Skyline an Infiniti.. it has always been a Nissan Skyline.

it is the top car on Nissan's market.

nasty...but i would have rather seen a single big turbo like a 60 trim or something than twin. i'm not real big on twins...

because its not really a luxury car. sure, its nice inside.. it has leather interior and a navigation screen and all that good stuff

but overall, its a performance car, not a luxury car.

The new GTR's are nice for sure, but I would take an R34 over the new one in a second. i like the RB26DETT sooooo much better than the new VQ's.

To those guys ^. The previous Skyline is our G35. This is the first Japanese Skyline that is actually going to be under Nissan USA and called a Skyline here.

Yeah, but Nissan has never really been the epitome of performance. Mercedes for example, is in the luxury category, but yet manages to sell their high performance machines and sports cars. Maybe its just me, but for the price tag Infiniti would have a much better rep over the low-cost cars of Nissan.

i actually dont want it. i love skylines but this thing will be nothing compared to the R34. weak twin turbo setup

yeah i know what you're trying to say.

it's just that the Nissan Skyline has always been the "flagship" car, so to speak, of the company.

ever since the release of the first Skyline model, it has always been a Nissan, and never an Infiniti. It would be pointless to change it now just because its finally making its way into the American market.

It has always been known as the Nissan Skyline, and will continue to be known as that. That's just how it is.

that is all it is. i guarantee the new 35 is going to be the exact same car minus the twin turbo. and the twin turbo on this thing is weak as shit. i know a guy who drives a honda civic on the road everyday that is tuned on a single turbo at 48 pounds boost and runs mid 8 second 1/4 mile. it has about 1/4 of the money in it that a new skyline will cost

Yes, but in the end he is in a civic. #'s aren't everything. I do agree the price is somewhat steep on this, but it will sell.

i agree with you that it will sell, and i agree that hes JUST in a civic, but id rather drive a car that performs better and costs a fuck load less than one that doesnt perform as well and puts me in debt for the rest of my life. what im saying is i would rather be sitting in a 3000 dollar 98 civic hatchback with 30,000 under the hood than pay 80,000 for a new car then have to put another 20,000 back into it. it just makes no sense

• 6-speed Dual Clutch Transmission with three driver-selectable modes: Normal (for maximum smoothness and efficiency), Snow (for gentler starting and shifting on slippery surfaces), and R mode (for maximum performance with fastest shifts).

snow? i wouldnt drive that thing anywhere near freezing temp...i dunno why you would? i mean ok yeha it might be fun a couple of times, but thats a nice car to get all rusty(i know if u clean it right then it wont, but chances are after a while, no matter how u clean it theres gonna be some rust)

I've been reading alot of reviews on this thing, and i don't know where you guys are getting these numbers and classifying this as "slow". This new skyline is in z06 territory for about the same price, maybe less.
