I uh, got some bad news?

fuck george bush and fuck my neighbors who get in their cars and DRIVE their kids to a house on the same street that is 100 feet away.

Golbal warming is a fad, you'll see, in like 50 years it will be just as cold as it was in the 50s and 60s.

goddamnit fuck shit cokc motherfucker shitty fucking bitchbastard cocksuckerhahafukyshittydickybarbarafuckingstreisandgoddamint

it's just the cycle of the earth. it'll get warmer, then we'll have an ice age, and there will be snow everywhere.

wow, everyone saying that global warming is a conspiracy theory is so ignorant of the facts. The vast majority of climate specialists agree that it is happenning and is a proble,, while the dissenters make up less than 5% of the field. However, our media has an idea that both sides need to be presented evenly, even if one is in the minority and has almost no proof or evidence, therefore making the unsupported statements of an extreme minority just as powerful as the other 95% well supported and rational points.

Also, the Bush administration has requested untold studies on global warming, but we don't hear them because they all come back saying that global warming does exist and is a problem. when it comes down to it, who are you going to believe, a couple of relatively unknown scientists employed by grants from the oil industry etc or a huge consensus of the worlds smartest scientists?

Global Warming and the Green House effect don't exist. The Government just makes that shit up to scare us, just like how we never really landed on the moon.

Its a sham. 2000 years ago, it was during a warm period. During this time the Vikings discoverd Greenland, that's why Greenland is known as "Green"land even though now it's covered in ice. The trends that have been occurring in the last 2000 years have been: Warm period.... Ice Age.... Warm period...... Ice Age..... Warm period...... what scientists are suggesting is that the trends will go like this:

/\

/ \

/ \

/ \

/\ /\ / \

/ \/ \/ \ Bahh, tis all a sham.

^^^ um, first of all, Greenland was called given its mixed up moniker to keep people from all moving to iceland, which was discovered shortly after Greenland, and was much tighter, and the vikings wanted to keep it to them selves. i read it in a book called the Discoverers, by Daniel J. Boorstein.

and if you look at any paleoecological proxy data, such as glacial core sampling or dendrochronology studies, you will find that global warming is not a sham, and that a warming trend such as the one we are seeing right now is completely unprecedented in all history. the rate at which temperatures are now rising are something like 10 times that of the medieval warming spell( about 700-900 years ago, not 2,000) which allowed the vikings to do their crazy voyages up north. scientists call it the hockey stick effect, because of the way the indisputable graphical data looks like a hockey stick.

bad news for skiing, indeed

Global warming is a bunch of Bullshit...the earths average temp has risen 1 Degree in the last 100 YEARS....it is nothing more than a cycle get over it....the stupid liberals just want us to feel guilty about our actions so that we think we need them to come and save us

i was watchint the science channel. and they took samples of stuff to see the weather a long time ago. and said it was even hotter than it will be now. then it follwed by the huge ice age

it has been hotter than it is now, but climate change has never been nearly this rapid, not even close, and it all happens to coincide with the the industrial revolution, weird

You sir, are a moron. Don't take offense, but definitely don't state your opinion when you have NO CLUE what you are talking about. Oh, did you know that the average global temperature has increased by over 6 degrees over the last 150 years? Oh, and did you know that graphs of CO2 over time and temperature rise are identical matches? Oh, and did you know that over the last 25 years greenhouse gases (CO2, SOx, NOx) have increased the same amount as they did in the 100 years previous? And that CO2 is still increasing almost exponentially? oh,a nd that over 2 billion people will begin driving in the next 20 years? (India and China, hello Industrial Era). Stop being so naive and small minded. Sheesh.

all we need is like another 75 years of winter, i man, i dont think any of us r going to be hitting chads or any jump at all when were 70

this study will be changed so many times before 2101 that it wont even matter. Scientists change their minds every 5 years. By 2010 we could very well be headed to an ice age the way that lot works

ya like somebody brought up the earth goe through cycles like its gets warmer then cools down. but also stop worrying, its so damn gradual u won't even notice it effect skiing in a bad way in our life time. like 1 degree in a 100 years? and don't say "o but we had a shitty winter last year". weather is unpredicalbe and winter is diff every year. 2 years ago tahoe only got like 60% of its average snowfall and then this year we got like 150%

the earth goes through cycles, fact. the trend we are experiencing now is far more extreme than any cycle in natural history, fact. the beginning and severity of the warming trend directly coincides with the beginning and quantity of greenhouse gases emitted, and when they exceeded the earth's assimilative capacity of greenhouse gases, fact.

...its a really big gamble for people to say science scmience

uhhh.... 1 degrees in the past 100 years doesn;t mean 1 degree in the next 100 years. because CO2 and other greenhouse gases, ie methane are increasing almost exponentially, conservative estimates are 10 degrees over the next 100 years, although we will reach peak oil well before that and will either change our energy sources drastically or the world economy will collapse

"In the Northeast the period was the warmest in at least 111 years, NOAA reported"

i'm not 2 concerned. it was obviously pretty hot 111 years ago.

oh well ill be in my grave. but people should be switching to electric cars very soon, im guessin in the next 10-20 years most people will be using electric cars.

Bingo

This is what my college history professor told us. Global warming, like what we experience today, is cyclical.

i bet 2005 durtschi didn't think he would be accepting the 2013 best male performance powder award, nonetheless being hammered while he was doing it

What's going on is that we are supposed to be falling into a cold period (this period has basically been since the beginning of humanity), however, the greenhouse gas production that came from the development of agriculture about 8000 years ago has been slowly building up until the industrial revolution where a huge amount of CO2 started being produced. Essentially, the CO2 emissions created by humans over the last 8000 years has made the climate more habitable for us. Although too much CO2 in the atmosphere is bad, such as during the permio-trassic extinction where massive coal deposits burned up from magma that pushed through, causing the earth to get super hot, and kill 80% of all species on earth. We certainly could do some damage but like someone else said, the Earth can control itself just fine. TL;DR We gone be aight

Well if you want to get right down to it, 75% percent of western Washington probably shouldn't have been deforested, and the Columbia shouldn't have been dammed either. We probably shouldn't continuously dump treated sewage into the sound, drain the aquifers, hunt the natural predators to extinction or any of the other 50 million things that we consider daily life that are going to lead to the demise of our ecosystems. I've made peace with the fact that humans ruin everything we touch its just a natural phase of evolution, there's no reasonable step to backtrack climate change, development is about to go absolutely bananas in the next century and its going to lift a billion people out of abject poverty, are we going to stand in the way of that for what might happen in 300 years?

Yes, the climate is cyclical, but what people seem to fail to understand is that humans are enhancing the warming greatly with carbon emissions and other awful things we do to this planet, and thus messing up the natural cycle somewhat.

Then lets stop arguing about it and start dealing with it. We lose nothing from investing in a sustainable future.

This.

Those who dismiss man-made climate change on the basis that natural fluctuations in global climate exist often fail to realize that we have no way of knowing for certain when/if the climate will ever turn around. We can either make the assumption that we'll be just fine, or we can continue searching for new alternative energy sources that will help relieve our dependence on a limited supply of fossil fuels and also just make the world a cleaner place for all life.
