And Im not really sure what to expect since I havent met with a doctor yet. I know plenty of you have experienced this so I was hoping I could get some Pre-op advice. Should I be worried about damaging it worse or can I walk around and shit? Can I wait until summer to have the surgery? How long does it take to live a normal lifestyle after surgery and how bad is surgery? Anything else that would help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
 
im no doctor either, but i reckon a doctor would say that you should rest as much as possible untill the inflamed area goes down, then start getting it as strong as you can (with in reason) before heading in to surgery. Then post surgery your recovery time would be determined by the severity of the damage found in surgery.
 
Yah, I would see the Ortho. I mean, its obvios that you need to rest it until inflamation goes down and then strengthen, but he can give you more specific details on the tear and ways to heal the quickest.
 
do not ski at all you will definitly have to get surgery and i would try to do so asap so you can get back to skiing faster. and for exersize i would get on a stationary bike with the pedals out in front of your body. this is what the doc told my mother when she did hers. hope it helps good luck with everything for ya.
 
This is true. Knee injuries can hurt like a bitch and even feel torn but, if you are lucky it could just be sprained and that only takes some rest and most likely you would be back before the season ends. If it is torn good luck and vibes. And if its torn I cant help its never happened to me. All I know is recovery is very dependent on the damage and surgery you get.
