I think its funny how..

I just wanted to say that I find it funny that there are kids on here that 3 years ago would NEVER have even considered putting on a piece of clothing made by J. Lindeberg. Firstly the majority of everyone on here didn't even know what J. Lindeberg was, and secondly, the ones that did know what it was just thought of it as wierd designer clothing. The Part that I think is funny is that there are now threads popping up of people looking to BUY J. Lindeberg clothing, just because Jon Olsson uses it. They see one picture of the Jon Olsson Invitational that has been used as the JL advertisment in Freeskier and now a bunch of wannabe posers want to buy his clothing. I am not saying that his outerwear is bad, andn't just buy it that you shouldn't buy it. On the contrary I am sure that it is great outerwear, go ahead and buy it, but don't just buy it for the wrong reasons. that is all.

yeah maximumsushi, i know why J. Lindeberg did it. I just find it funny that a bunch of "newschoolers" are wearing J. Lindeberg now. Just to look like Jon.

if you ask one of them what is good about the clothing. Or why they like the clothing. they wont even know what to tell you.

i dont think there wearing it just cause jon wears it, if you like the way something looks why shouldnt you get it, jon just introduced most newschoolers to this company

well, personally when I buy a jacket, i think about what I want. For example, I might say to myself, I want a black puffy jacket. So then I go and try on a bunch of different black puffy jackets. So, then I find a nice black, puffy jacket that I like, and i buy it, regardless of who rides for that company

I don't understand how this differs from any other ski brand except that the clothes are made by a designer. Actually, I doubt that Johan Lindeberg even designs the outerwear. What's "hot" in the fashion industry (ski outerwear included) is almost entirely a result of marketing.

well, if we look at how the other companies got started, they didn't start as designer clothing for rich people. Check it out, Orage, Siver Cartel, Oakley, None of them started out that way, I just was saying that it is funny how so many are looking to wear J. Lindeberg now that Jon does, what about Tommy, are we gonna see a whole bunch of people wearing Tommy coats next year if a pro rider does, what stops you from wearing it this year, even when it wont change that much.

alright man I think you have a terrible attitude based on what you have just said

you cant possibly know what said kids motivation to buy JL is

calling them wannabe posers is not nessecary, just because they fall victim to good advertizing does not make them wannabe posers

the modern world works this way learn that now or be unhappy with it for the rest of your life because it can only get worse and being unpleasant and complaining about it does hardly anything but create arguments

if you do it is better to use facts or concrete evidence

nobody cares if you do this or that when you go to buy new stuff it doesnt help your argument

thats a very good point but also, if i were looking for a new jacket and i didnt know what i wanted, then i would look for one that looked good (to me) and then i would try it on and see if it was what i wanted, no matter what brand it was

if i saw a pro wearing something that i liked the look of i would buy it, not because they had it but because i liked the way it looked, thats why i get mad when people are like "what jacket is steele spence wearing in long story short" and everybody says not to get it just cause that pro wears it, but in reality they just saw it and liked how it looked, they didnt like it because that pro had it

I honestly don't see any problem in what they did. They make designer clothing with an emphasis on sports. They decided to come into skiing after it was determined to be a good market. Other companies in the past have done this many times. Oakley didn't start in snowsports, they started in motocross. Why is motocross so different from golf or designer jeans as a previous market?

That is a good point as well, but sometimes they arent as good looking as you think, which is why you gotta go try them on. Sometimes they are too puffy, or not insulated enough, or other factors.

see man thats what im talking about if you say that you just think it's funny then keep the argument light using the words wannabe or poser or fag just make it seem like you're hating on people and people will get angry and in real life people will kick the shit out of you if you fuck with the wrong people

i think its funny how people are expected to somehow know about a fashion designer before they start making ski gear...

i mean i get what you're saying, there are a lot of posers, but its pretty obvious that you won't see a bunch of posts about a company before they do anything related to skiing...

winn i dont mean to slam you but i dont agree. i think to say that kids would be buying j lindberg if it werent for jon is rediculous. imagine if someone else, say mike wilson, started wearing j lindberg instead of jon. no one would pay any attention to it. yes wilson is an amazing skier that can easily compare with jon, but no one pays any attention to him. why do you think that jon was wearing bright pink for the first year. i dont think its an attitude problem, granted he is being fairly pesimistic, but he is only making a reasonable observation. whatever kids, wear what you want no one is gonna give a shit

oakley has always been a sporting company....

orage didnt start as a clothing company marketed twards freeskiers, it took their pros like tj to do that

just wearing it because jon wears it? i dont think its possible for anyone to be that retarted, buying something just because some pro uses it there probably are a few people that would buy stuff because a pro uses it but not many

but thats not the reason they buy it, its because they think the jacket/pant is nice and good looking

this is possibly one of the most idiotic threads ever. everyone is now dumber because of it, and therefore i award you no points. but seriously no one new about JL until they sponsored jon and people saw it. they dont want it because jon has it, they want it because jon introduced it to the newschool skiers and they like the way it looks.

hey, i was saying J. Lindeberg hasnt been in sporting till 2 years ago. Those other companies have forever

JL makes so pritty sick stuff but it started off making golf clothing that is super popular and super expensive i like it but its stupid expensive as for kids wanting it its nice but on the flip side its kinda stupid spending that much on a skijacket and pants why not spend money on something that could improve your skiing like skis n bindings its not all about image and to say that its only cause jon sports it is stupid because the majority of ppl on this chat buy "whats cool" ie: dumont pro,t-halls and so on so dont think for a second that its only jon

OMG 123ski that is so deep!!!! how did you figure that out, please be my mentor and teach me your incredible intelligence oops you cant because im too fucking stupid and you are so god damn insightful that i will never be able to catch on everything that you teach me in the himalayas and it will be a total waste of your time

people need to see it so they can want to buy it. its great looking clothing. it just so happens that jon was the first "celebrity" to wear it. so he was the first person people saw it on. now people want it cus its high quality, attractive outerwear. advertising. novel isnt it?

true. i think however that someone can see a new jacket for instance in a movie that some pro is wearing and say wow i want that jacket. they dont want it becasue the skier is wearing it necisarily they want it becasue it looks cool, and the fact that they want to wear it after they see the pros wear them really has nothing to do with it.. the jacket is new and most likely never been seen much before, therefor they like the jacket.

I have a Black 1 piece Helly Hanson storm shell if anyones interested courtesy of Warren Miller,

Looks so G...

well, i just see it this way... If Jon would have ridden for Nautica (which makes some outerwear) alot of these kids would go out to buy Nautica coats, but because he doesnt, those same kids don't.
