May seem like I'm picking a fight, but I actually have alot to say about almost everyone of these.
1.You have to be against capital punishment, but support abortion on demand.
Well, first of hypocrisy is a two-way street. It would seem you're for the first against the later but above just pointing fingers there is a difference between killing a full grown man and a piece of slime no larger than a pinky nail in the first trimester before it has developed a heart or a brain, there are no emotions in something without organs. At that point in development, most of the cells haven't even received organizational cues.
2.You have to believe that businesses create oppression and governments create prosperity.
The first of many points here that have decisively opted to use what is referred to in logical reasoning as "the straw man fallacy". Essentially, warping the statement of someone in order to make a much weaker statement, which is much easier to defeat, and then claiming that you have defeated the original argument. What we've been saying is that humans run businesses, and humans are susceptible to corruption, because as we have all heard, "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely" so we take believe that a government be there to break up monopolies and make sure that that natural human corruption (if it makes you feel better, we could even pretend it's the devil) is kept in check. So maybe we should say instead that "Businesses create money, money creates corruption, government allows money to be made, and still curbs corruption.
3.You have to believe that guns in the hands of law-abiding Americans are more of a threat than U.S. nuclear weapons technology in the hands of Chinese and North Korean communists.
You have to agree that guns in the hands of the Columbine shooters caused more damage than the "nuclear weapons" that we found in Iraq.
4.You have to believe that there was no art before Federal funding.
You have to agree that artists need to put food on the table like everyone else.
5.You have to believe that global temperatures are less affected by cyclical documented changes in the earth's climate and more affected by soccer moms driving SUV's.
Sigh. The only problem is that voting Republican won't make the world stop changing it's climate, so I don't actually see how this makes democrats hypocritical, as we aren't disagreeing that the world is a changing place. However, cars do create exhaust that bonds with the O3 in the o-zone layer and renders it ineffective, SUVs driven by soccer moms and anyone else, just do it much faster, and waste more fuel, which doesn't help our fuel crisis either. All of this is very well documented as well.
6.You have to believe that gender roles are artificial but being homosexual is natural.
Gender roles go against the American tenets of freedom and equality that have been presented to us a thousand times since Kindergarten. Where is the elusive evidence for your belief that someone can't fix a car because they have a vagina? And guys don't go out and ram other guys because they just want to try something new or because they chose to. Obviously you couldn't choose to be gay if you wanted to, could you? So how could you say that a homosexual could choose to be straight. Love is love, let them do what they want. And please don't tell me they're possessed or anything weird like that.
7.You have to believe that the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of federal funding.
No one ever said that AIDS was spread by a lack of federal funding (but people have said that Hurricane Katrina was caused by homosexuals, and that the black plague was caused because we didn't pray enough). AIDS is caused, turn your children's heads to the side now conservatives lest they be exposed to the 's' word prematurely, sexual intercourse without protection. So the government, in an effort to protect it's people, spreads this knowledge, and distributes protection, and fund research for a cure. I didn't know anyone though that was a bad thing, unless you think God is trying to kill off the gays.
8.You have to believe that the same teacher who can't teach 4th-graders how to read is somehow qualified to teach those same kids about sex.
The teacher who can teach our kids to read, and is certified and checked by standardized proficiency
testing (which we'll talk about later) is also certified and armed with a curriculum to do so effectively. Is it better for an unknowledgeable parent with out even a teaching certificate in general to do this? If you really believe this, be our guest and do it before the 4th grade, but in a word where girls are getting pregnant before their first periods, on the first egg they ever make, the school will do it right, unless you want your 12-year-old doctor to be pregnant.
9.You have to believe that hunters don't care about nature, but urban activists who have never been outside of San Francisco do.
I believe they both care about nature to a certain extent, but environmentalists always care about the environment while only a select bit of hunters do.
10.You have to believe that having self-esteem is more important than actually doing something to earn it.
How does a kid who's been bullied all his life go out and earn self-esteem if he doesn't believe in himself?
11.You have to believe that Mel Gibson spent $25 million of his own money to make The Passion Of The Christ for financial gain only.
I saw it, it was over the top, I just watched some guy kept beaten and whipped for 3 hours and scream in a language I couldn't understand. But alot, and I mean alot, of people throughout man kind have been slaughtered, have been tortured and killed. Only one of them ended up with a third of the world worshiping him. Oh and we can't forget about the crucifixions in the middle ages and the Salem Witch Trials, all in the name of Christ and his father. Mel Gibson is a racist too, can't forget that. And a drunk, he's also a drunk.
12.You have to believe the NRA is bad because it supports certain parts of the Constitution, while the ACLU is good because it supports certain parts of the Constitution.
The NRA, is about protecting our right to bear arms, arm bears, and anything involving gun freedom in between. I must say though, I've never seen anyone use a Tec 9 to kill deer. I have however, seen someone use a Tec 9 to shoot up their high school.
13.You have to believe that taxes are too low, but ATM fees are too high.
Taxes are distributed around the country to make it a better nation to live in, ATM fees go into the pocket of the bank manager.
14.You have to believe that Margaret Sanger and Gloria Steinem are more important to American history than Thomas Jefferson, Gen. Robert E. Lee, and Thomas Edison.
I have met Gloria Steinem, and I can say very confidently, that the changes she has made in America were much more progressive than Robert E. Lee.
15.You have to believe that standardized tests are racist, but racial quotas and set-asides are not.
Racial quotas are racist, they have been disbanded dramatically since they were established, we no longer have them in Cleveland, and standardized tests are racist, no one deserves extra points because of their skin color.[/b]
16.You have to believe that Hillary Clinton is normal and is a very nice person.
Tell me you know her persona because you spoke to her at a party.
17.You have to believe that the only reason socialism hasn't worked anywhere it's been tried is because the right people haven't been in charge.
The Democratic Party never tried to make us socialist.
18.You have to believe conservatives telling the truth belong in jail, but a liar and a sex offender belonged in the White House.
We're nominating Mark Foley?!? This is certainly news to me! Seriously though, Bush was really selling it straight with those WMDs he found!
19.You have to believe that homosexual parades displaying drag, transvestites, and bestiality should be constitutionally protected, and manger scenes at Christmas should be illegal.
You got me to laugh. I didn't know there was bestiality at a homosexual parade, haha, that's rich. On your second statement, Separation of Church and State means the state can't endorse any religion, and a manger scene is endorsing Christmas, a Christian holiday.
20.You have to believe that illegal Democratic Party funding by the Chinese government is somehow in the best interest to the United States.
Quickly, about those AK-47s the terrorists are shooting our troops with in Afghanistan. Didn't you guys give those to them to fight communism? And what about all that funding to Republicans from the Sauds?
21.You have to believe that John Kerry’s Purple Hearts are legitimate, and that a Massachusetts Senator more liberal than Teddy Kennedy can be elected President of the United States.
No, I think he shot himself, and then jumped into granade shrapnel. You're talking about a guy who charged Viet-Kong with a grenade launcher, winning a Silver Star in the process. He was shot, and sprayed with shrapnel twice. A purple heart is awarded to "Any soldier who is wounded during combat" and last time I checked, shrapnel wounds are still believed to really, really suck. Meanwhile, Bush flew his plane to a whole different state to party it up while on duty, marvelous.
