so me lencon and the girlfriends were all at targhee today, everything going well. heck we even see cy whitling and try to get his attention but sadly he was too far away. so basically i do a front flip off a 10inch lump and my tails smack the snow i hear this crunch. so im like no big deal and continue skiing the rest of the day. upon putting the skis in the ski rack i see that one of my skis have rocker that somewhat resemble the surface one life. i inspect and find this...

so after doing a flex test, the bent part is signifigantly softer. mannnnn basically new skis and i snapped a tail.

however, i snapped it like before lunch time, but continued to ride them hard the rest of the day without realizing it was broken and i didnt notice a difference. im afraid if i continue riding them and wheelie out of something it will snap off completely. what do i do ns?

sincerely, your boy shin bang :(

i forgot to add the poll. it would have been " how stupid was op for trying a frontflip off too small of jump"

A.) very stupid

B.) wasnt ops fault, he was just getting footy for the boys

C.) it was just sheer bad luck :(

I think warranty would cover this. You didn't slam it into anything.

and btw I would answer b)

How does this even happen?

Been there, done that. I swear looking at new skis and realizing they now have Surface rocker and a flaccid flex is the worst feeling ever. Are those the KF's? Seems like since you didn't hit a rail or a rock it would be worth at least trying to warranty em.

And sorry I missed you guys, I toured hard Thursday and Friday, and then skied way too hard at Targhee Friday afternoon and could barely walk Saturday so I got up to the hill late and then my new boots killed my feet and I had to call it early. But we'll get some laps at some point!

They are KFs. He's worried about the warranty tho because he bought them from KF as a demo ski. So they've been used a few times before, but basically brand new. He sent them an email but I'm not sure what that included and if they replied yet.

Yea it's so depressing. These skis along with the Jeffrey 122 are the only two pow skis that have actually not given me shin bang. It's so weird. I like them so much and i don't have money to buy another pair. I emailed KF but since it was my fault for slamming the tails into the ground, i doubt they will do anything.

as for seeing you at the ghee, it was no prob man. We can shred together some other time :D

I don't think warranty would cover it since you fell and that would be considered rider error or something.): But maybe they will give you a single ski a lot cheaper!

I'm sorry dudeee): You should have lencon'd...

Yea im 100% sure that's the case on the warranty as I've talked to them before about it. your comment honestly made me feel a lot better. Worst case scenario I just have to buy another single ski. thanks Ming :)

Tbh I would tell the company that you were just lexing them hard or something. I wouldn't tell them how you actually broke them cause they could easily make up some bs about how it was your fault that you broke them. But just make up a believable story on what happened. Ik ik lying is bad, but come on who has money to dish out for skis all the time?

Its not. Same thing with cy and Lencon and how I actually broke the skis. who cares? I know I don't. The only thing relevant is what I should do now that its broken. See, even your comment is irrelevant.

Haha Yayy!

Another thing to consider, at snowflex I saw a dude who had like some kind of brace in his tail that held it together. If yours isn't snapped too bad you may be able to do that. That could help hold you up until you get a new one!

I would suggest doing this.

I would disagree. I think this is may be the most relevant part. 75% of my crashes happen while showing off for girls, and 100% of the skis I have broken have happened while I was skiing in front of women. The power of a female audience should never be underestimated.

Also, Kitten Factory's response makes me seriously want some of their skis.

can't argue with that. I've had those experiences myself

Sorry to steal thread but since we are talking about KFs trying to find one of there edits from like 2 years ago. It was a young kid doing some preseason on a fat tube with some kids and the song was shoot baby shoot. If ya know I mean +K to anyine who helps.

To all members of NS, please don't do this when coming into your local ski shop, lots of times we believe your BS and eventually find signs of rider induced damage after hours or days of wasting our time and the companies time which sucks. Usually if you come clean and tell the truth we may not be able to warranty it but we can normally hook you up with a sweet deal. But if dealing directly my advice would be to downplay the situation and emphasize how much you loves their skis and are stoked to get back on a pair, usually works wonders.

Ha-ha there aren't many ski companies out there that actually respond on NS, the fact you did is dope, but now I feel like an asshole.

Don't stress man, you gotta do what you gotta do when getting that footy for the boys, speaking of footy, is there footy of this banger

Is it just me or is the left ski delamming in the first pic?

If you do get one replacement ski from the factory, just know that it could feel different than the original. Skis are pressed in pairs, and things can vary from press to press - little bit more epoxy, slightly different core profile, etc. Maybe they have a factory blem that they could replace it with but just know that going in.

You are correct. Both ski tails are rather blown up because I slammed them into the ground that hard. But that's an easy fix with some clamps and epoxy. I did it to my Rayzrs when tomahawking hard And haven't had problems. Thanks goodness theyre 3/4s edge wrap otherwise I would be screwed

Ok actually on inspection, theyre really not that bad. but still I'm going to clamp and epoxy them
