I saw Ball Lightning

If anyone as ever witnessed it its actually really cool to see but its scary as hell when its comming at you. I just saw it for the first time out on my porch. I bent down picking up a tennis ball that I dropped when I saw a bright flash light everything up. I looked up and saw a white streak of lightning coming towards me the it stopped and went straight to the ground not 5 feet in front of me and turned into a ball that hovered above the ground for about 2 seconds before hearing a hissing noise followed by an intense cracking noise that I have never heard anything like it before in my life. The best way i can describe it would be a gun shot right near your face, only a gun shots' bang is directional. This noise filled the air all around me and just seemed to fill my body. I was immediately freaked the fuck out so I turned around to see my brother standing in the doorway saying "what the fuck was that???". I guess he saw it too when he was comming outside and saw a bigger ball hover farther out in the yard. We went inside to relax and watch tv and when we turned it on the color was purple and white. Along with that tv, every single videoscreen in the house including this computer screen has been totally ruined because of it. NOT ONLY THAT! but the radio station right next to my house went off the air and just came back on the air a couple minutes ago. Anyone living in the philly area that has the new 107.5 FRANK FM can verify this as well. Just thought I'd share this.
 
happened to me...lightning struck a tree about 20 ft from me and i basically jumped out of my clothes
 
i have also seen cloud-cloud lightning its something very rare and only happens once a year in the country or something like that
 
that would be so cool, but scary as hell. its still really cool that you got to see that because it is really rare
 
not sure if the radio station was struck its self but i've been reading up on it now and i guess it travels long distances sometimes and even through buildings and stuff. so it could have been the same thing that made the radio station go out or a whole other thing
 
Lightning struck about 4 feet from my head when i was working... its this little farm stand and theres an electrical box thingy in the top corner... well i was standing in the corner and it struck... happened twice, first was the worst time. lit everything up in a sweet red and purple colors. too bad it destroyed every electrical thing plugged in. Fun Times.
 
you turn off your electronics because lightning creates a huge change in magnetic field in a very short time, which causes a large magnetic flux in a short time, which creates a large EMF in nearby electronics, which creates a large current in the wires, which fries the appliances.
 
some chick that lives by me had a tree fall onto her house during this huge storm. crashed through her roof and sht and there were branches like 3 feet from her face and slept through the whole thing.

the coolest that ive seen was i was in a plane right near seom clouds and the whole clouds were lighting up and shit from lightning
 
DUDE i saw some show on that shit its mad crazy!! there was this ball lightning that entered smeones house through a window and then went upstairs and hit this girl in the face in the hallway and killed her
 
Are you serious? Anways wow your lucky you didn't get hit, samething happened to my mom's boss's mom, except she got hit with it.
 
Dude ball lightning is the shit. The coolest one is the big forked out ones though, that hit like 20 different places at once or it just looks like it.

I was walking around my neighborhood one time, and it jsut started pouring like out of nowhere. So i start walking home, and the next thing i see, its like someone taknig a picture right in your face cept like 100 times brighter, then you hear the loudest boom in your life. Like it shakes you. Yeah that was on halloween, and it was like 15 feet from me.
 
crazy shit. My car was struck by lightening once. It was so fucking scary/crazy. It is so hard to describe, but what I experienced certainly wasn't ball lightening. I've had a pilot friend tell me stories of ball lightening in the past. It is super crazy. I guess you are lucky to have experienced that. SO few people ever do.
 
we had ball lightning float through the wall of our living room about five years ago. A glowing yellow ball the size of a softball came in through an open window and out through the wall on the opposite side of the room. My dad and brother and I all watched it. It made a crazy hissing noise, but no loud bang, and it made a burn mark about the size of a softball in the inside wall where it went through. There was no burn mark on the outside of the house, so we figure that it fizzled out inside the wall. None of our electronics were messed up, but it was sure scary for the few seconds I was watching it.

My dad saw ball lightning once when he was in his late twenties and it did mess up my parents electronics. I guess about 5 percent of people see ball lightning in their life, but there are so many differnt kinds of ball lightning and possible scenarios that it's a difficult phenomenon to scientifically analyze.
 
i was just talking to my friend about this today. He had almost the same exeperence as you. he was on his deck and he saw it. but he said it was like bouncing in the air.
