i really need help...car decision...

i've recently aquried a 1996 VW Jetta GLS with 120,000 miles. i have about 2 grand in the bank at this point. so here's the debate:

do i: tweak up the jetta, put my 2 grand into it, and when it dies at like 200,000 miles, start over with very little money.

or

do i: save all my cash until it dies, then get a nicer car with the cash i saved.

i dunno i've been debating this for a while and i can't come to a conclusion. the jetta will last me like another 3-4 yrs. any help would be appreciated.

do the second choice, thats the smart choice, so ya, just drive it until it dies or you have enough money to get a new one good luck buddy, god speed in what ever you decide :)

I would definately say save your money until your car dies so then you will have money for a nice car.

2000 dollars isnt enough for a nice car, much less any car. The 2nd choice is smarter though, unless you can put some big rims on and jack it up to the hiegth of a monster truck

 
To me there's no sexier (practical) car than a 96/97 jetta with a small spoiler and some nice rims. To each his own, but I would use the money to ensure that the Jetta runs up to 300k.

yeah i would put the money into it. i had an older jetta than ran like a champ and it had 270k on it. only reason i got rid of it was because i got smoked by a van and it totalled it.

spoilers are gay, rims are cool, but really just make sure it has good sound and tires that'll get you to the slopes no matter what the weather.

 
alot of places around here have sales where they'll give you 3 grand for a trade in even if the dar isn't running, so keep the car untill it dies, save your money trade it in with your extra money and a loan and get a good car.

My 96 outback has 170,000 miles on it. Still doing pretty well, I need a new clutch and brake pads and Im set! Bumping sound system and perfect road trip mobile.

well how much are you gonna make before the jetta breaks down cause if your only gonna make another 5000 dollars or so i would put the money into the jetta and make sure it lasts a long time, but if your gonna get like 20000 i would save so you could buy a nice car

put stuff in your jetta that you can take off and put in your next car, like rims /sound system

don't tweak your engine or for that matter anything under the hood, exhaust or body, redo the interious yourself, if you want at altezzas, thats it but buy some rims and coilovers maybe, lower it, but only stuff you can take off and put on your next car, so when you sell it put all the stock parts back on

with 120 000 miles dude your engine is def not worth tweaking, you will do more bad then good
