I really hate football

Ok, I guess I really dont hate football, or at least the sport its self, but I just dont get peoples obsesion with worshiping the sport, or the multi-billion dollar franchise that goes along with it. I am so sick of hearing people talk about it 24/7.

I guess this is sort of common with many other skiiers/outdoors enthusiasts, but I honestly can not see what's so entertaining about sitting on a couch watching overpaid douches hitting each other and throwing a ball around? Like I would much rather be out doing somethig and experiencing life, rather than devoting myself to some cooperate franchise that owes and does nothing for you other than take your money and make you fat.

And it's not like I care about people watching and enjoying the game (to each their own), I just dont get people's life revolving around some made up rivalries or bullshit "team devotion".

Like seriously. Get a life.

Living in the middle of Seahawks bandwagoner country, I guess it just gets old going everywhere and being forced to listen to people's conversations riding Pete Carolls cock or some other crap. Like ok, I fucking love skiing and biking more than anything, but I dont go around talking people's ear's off about it who dont care all about skiing.

My favorite part is when people are bitching about something dumb like Tom Brady deflating a fucking football by 3 psi, and when I tell them "It's just football man" they get all defensive and emotionally upset and try telling me "it's not just football". Almost like they think the NFL is some sort of devine power, and that the result of the superbowl is some universe altering event, and that Tom Brady is some sort of god, and that everyone in the world should have to give 2 fucks about it.

Like seriously, there's more to life than watching football.

(this also goes for any other "mainstream" sport)

Tl;dr- Op has a lot of eternally built up rage because he's forced to listen to your shitty conversations about football and he cant relate

How are you any better by spending time on new schoolers? Stop letting it bother you. Why do you care if it brings other people happiness. you'll be happier if you can look past that stuff, stop being so negative.

dude could not agree more. Especially the people that never even played. I played 5 years growing up and still get bored watching. When random girls that dont play sports are overly into it i'm so confused

i think all normal team sports are pretty lame to watch. i do watch hockey sometimes, but i am canadian after all.

You sure about that?

Did you read this paragraph? "Living in the middle of Seahawks bandwagoner country, I guess it just gets old going everywhere and being forced to listen to people's conversations riding Pete Carolls cock or some other crap."

You realize you wrote that, right?

And this one:

"My favorite part is when people are bitching about something dumb like Tom Brady deflating a fucking football by 3 psi, and when I tell them "It's just football man" they get all defensive and emotionally upset and try telling me "it's not just football". Almost like they think the NFL is some sort of devine power, and that the result of the superbowl is some universe altering event, and that Tom Brady is some sort of god, and that everyone in the world should have to give 2 fucks about it."

So, before I tear you limb from limb I gotta say this:

1. I understand the Seahawks thing, Seahawks fans are the absolute worst people from the part of the country with the absolute worst people (the PNW). They suck, and I understand how awful it is to be around them all the time. Probably more than you do, as I grew up on the east coast, where we have the absolute best people in the country, and was tricked into moving that hellhole you motherfuckers from the PNW call home for a year. Dunno if you grew up there, but if you do, you're a big part of the problem and are almost as insufferable as Seahawks fans themselves. Not quite, but close.

2. Tom Brady is a god. Don't you dare say anything bad about him.

Anyway, sure sounds like you care a hell of a lot about people watching and enjoying the game. Stop being such a judgmental asshole and let people do whatever it takes to help them get out of bed in the morning and fall asleep at night without spending too much time contemplating killing themselves in between.

I feel the same way OP, though perhaps less strongly. I try not to let it bother me.

The two things that do bother me though:

1) When random people at work ask me about "last night's game" or whatever. Why do you assume that I watch this crap? I don't bother you about shit you don't care about.

2) When people get butthurt if I tell them my opinion about football (for the record this never happens unprompted haha, I know people probably think me being obsessed with hitting park rails is stupid). My buddies and I are renting a cabin for skiing and then a Super Bowl party and my friend could not understand why I would choose extra time on the mountain instead of watching the game.

Point 2 is probably a bit strongly worded, I don't think anyone gets butthurt over that. They probably just think I am lame, which I am I suppose.

I really agree with you. I think it's stupid as hell to sit on a couch and watch OTHER humans make a living.

I live an hour away from Green Bay... people literally quit their jobs to go see a playoff game, My pastor in church prayed for them to win once, The season ticket waiting list is 70 years long, and almost everybody wastes their time with fantasy football.

Its very similar to playing video games, people want to escape from their boring lives and pretend they are in somebody else's world for a few hours.

I hear yah OP. I live in Canada, played highschool football, and have the same feelings...Mainly because I only get one day off a week and its sunday...My tv and couch are automatically called for by my roomates for this bs....I keep telling myself its almost over..hang in there op and just be thankful your not forced to watch CFL and NFL.

Football isn't even half that bad compared to baseball and *shudder* basketball.

I only watch hockey occasionally though. I have way better things to do with my time than watch T.V.

To each their own.

I'm a die hard Green Bay Packers fan and I will be for life. Growing up with such an exciting team to watch and being surrounded by so many other fans with so much love for the team definitely had a lasting effect on me. I find serious excitement and joy in watching the Packers, even more so now that I live 1000+ miles from Wisconsin. It helps me connect with my roots and my family.

A great day for me is going skiing Sunday morning and then sitting back with a beer and cheering on the Pack. If you're not into it that's fine, but there's a reason people enjoy it that goes deeper than mindlessly yelling at the TV.

This video basically sums up half the people that watch football. Absolutely ridiculous. skip to 1:10.

Coming from a town where "if you dont play football you're unathletic", i can agree with ur point. Also, If my disliking of football is an unpopular opinion and offends anyone well then welcome to the internet lol

lol dude, videos like this are ridiculous. I really don't get the point of recording themselves like they have to prove to everyone that they are fans, it's the same as gapers making gopro edits, just stupid.

That being said, I've watched football all of my life, was raised in a family that's super into UW sports and I just find it enjoyable. Like anything else some people go over the top with it but for me its a fun time to just sit down and watch a game every once in a while. I think the issue that OP has is with people like the ones in the video who don't do anything with their lives but watch football and talk about it all the time. Then again there are a lot of people on here that do the same thing with skiing.

Op skis and does nothing else and thinks hes better than anyone who enjoys "normal" sports. Once you realize how ridiculous free skiing and the culture around it must seem to the general public you'll start to have respect for the things that other people are passionate about.

I see where op is coming from, but is it really that hard to imagine that different people have different tastes?

On the other hand, I go to school in a city that is downright crazy about football (Buffalo). I have almost no interest in watching football, and after 4 years of going here it's so frustrating that every single small talk encounter involves talking about football. When people find out I dont follow it, it's like their minds explode

i generally watch most games of my teams in hockey/baseball (canucks/blue jays) and i'm a pretty big fan, but i cannot fucking stand when people describe the team they cheer for as "we" or "us." i think it was when the seahawks lost over the weekend, i saw this tweet from a buddy with a picture of the stats from the game, and about how "we got outplayed" and how "We shouldn't have turned the ball over so many times." fuck man you're not on the team, you just cheer for them? i don't get that at all

Ummm...?

That's like, the American way, man. Why do we watch boxing?

I love football and enjoy watching as much as possible.

BUT...man I fucking hate being sat at a bar or on a plane and having to listen to other peoples moronic conversations about it. Most of the time I want to stab them for their stupidity.

So I can totally empathize with people who are not that into it finding it obnoxious.

Well not everyone has to have the same interests as you. People can have all sorts of reasons for being passionate about football. I watched the Pats win their first 3 super bowls with my dad and grandfather, now my grandfather is gone and those are some of the best memories I have.

You can also be passionate about skiing, biking AND football. Dont have to pick between watching TV and skiing.

Yes, Seattle football was SO much better when the hawks were in the kingdome and the roof tiles were falling in and the Hawks were consistently getting their asses handed to them. Our team was bad for a long time, we deserve to have a few years of being obnoxious. Maybe the Seahawks have a huge following as of recent because the ownership and the coaching staff have assembled an incredible team that is a lot more fun to watch than most.
