Yep it started off black..

I meant to ask this: other people who painted their helmets did it chip or scrape off?

no shit!

looks good though, i think if it would chip or not depends on the paint so you'll just have to wait and see. you should at least use water-ressistant pain

give it alot of layers of clear coat aswell

Yeah I used 5 layers of white acrylic paint, 2 layers of gloss finish Mod Podge, and 3 coats of a clear acrylic finish. I was going to paint the rivets a different color but it wouldn't stick.

It's barely noticeable that is was painted.
