so i have to do a paper on " my hero" i chose to do a skier, probally simon dumont or t-hall, they seem to be most popular ( not saying that their my hero, but i want to do it on a well known skier, not only the type of skier only skiers would know, but like one alot of people have heard of, a common one among people)

but i need 5 sources

book
newspaper
internet
magizene
encyclopidia(just like a genreal term, like skiing i guess)

anyone done a project like this ? or knows where i can find a book on a skier, like thall or someone, ive already got a magizene article on anyone from freeskier and a internet site, i need a book though, help me out!

there will not be any books on either of them, and probably none on any newschool skiers at all either.

ask your teacher/professor if you can use a book for reference for other information, such as skiing history to add some background to your paper, and explain your situation. she/he will probably understand.

it'll be easy to find magazine and intraweb sources but the others i think would be really hard. to save yourself a lot of work just pick someone really famous
but if you're going for a skier, do dumont because t-hall=poop

despite my personal opinion on simon dumont, you'll find a lot more information on him than other skiers, so he would be a good choice. write about his epic competition between him and tanner, and how even though he continues to lose he's still ur hero or something.

way to shoot yourself in the foot. see if your school has accounts to things like proquest, jstor, and that kind of shit to access stuff. And what might be really freaky is if you took a bit of time to go to a library, especially if you have access to a university library; all kinds of shit. but a skier... sliiiim pickins

word,

your not going to find any documents about newschool skiers on an academic database. whilst doing my dissertation i looked quickly through jstor and the other databases to find anything about skiing,

the result: Failed

write about someone like lance armstrong, possibly the best athlete of our generation, there'll be loads of info

If you went back in time and picked out someone who was influential in the history and advancements in the industry you might find info. in the history books. You probably would have never have heard of these people yourself. With some research you might find a hero you didn't know existed. Another thought would be to choses a vague character like world war 2 ski troopers or (I am going to stick my neck out here) the evolution of the ski patrol.

i think the NY Times or Wallstreet had a brief article about skiing and someone posted it on here not too long ago.

having been on here for years and having 20,000 odd posts, i dont think you can really talk about him being obnoxious.

its called a library.

the UofU library has a stock of all the old FREEZE mags in the special collections. could find some good stuff there. just find a research assistant at the library and ask for help. they don't bite and are usually really cool people. and are amazing at finding sources for papers, trust me, I'm a college boi.
