Im doing a school project and I need your guys word on why Crystal needs a park

If you guys would tell me how much of a necessity a park is to a resort that would be great thanks!!!

crystal doesn't need a park. It wouls jsut be gay and shitty on account that the owners are gay.

Insane_skier:

Under my name It sais beginner.

I am very discouraged to the fact that the site adminster didn't look at my profile or ask before doing something like this. I may be new to this website but I have been skiing more then most of you.

PLEASE research or ask before making such assumptions like this one.

The owners are shitty? Boyne? Big Sky and Brighton sucks too? I think not.

Crystal needs a park because they are excluding themselfs to one group of skiier and snowboarders, who mainly go to snowqualmie just because they have parks, but would much rather ski crystal. But its kinda like argueing to make Alta a skiier AND snowboarder mountain, if they can make money without doing it, why would they?

crystal needs a park so u can do shit when the snow suks. but now with the new north back lift comin next year, south back is gonna be the only backcountry left which blows

windells holiday sesh, dec 26-Jan 2

i rock the pow like none other

reasons for Crystal to get a park:

**Qucksilver is perfect for a park and only sucky skiers use that run anyways, just kick out the crappy kids

**when there's no powder, all the good runs are torn up and mogully(yeah, that's not a word) by noon. then there's not too much to do

**the only park nearby is at Sno-Q and that's pretty far away for some of us(aka me)

**and more

They do a pipe every year... I just don't think they have the supplies or people to build and maintain a park.

I could see crystal expanding their nightskiing before building a park.

I never ski crystal anymore because theres no park and thats were I grew up skiing

Stevens is the best place in Wash and i make the 2hr drive just to go there when im back at home, i could be going to crystal in an hr

The owners are gay and just cater to old ass people like are dads

'just cater to old ass people like are dads'

i would say its more of old people and racers, lots and lots and lots of racers. i go to crystal like once or twice a year, its a great mountain and everything, but its a little far away for me. the terrain is probably second in the state (baker being first of course) but if they widen their demographic and add a park, then they'll be raking in a hell of a lot more money, money that would more than cover the amount of labor they would pay the park crew and such. but like others have stated, i think that crystal ever getting a park is probably at least 5 years away, they're just way behind the times. once all these little kids get tired of gay racing spandex, they'll be looking for other things to do on the mountain

they tried putting in a park about five years ago, but it failed miserably. they just didn't know how to maintain it. same with the .5 pipes that they try ever once in a while. it sucks really a lot

As many people have already said, if they can make money without a park, why focus their attention there. They can add new lifts and get more terrain. There is more to skiing then terrain parks, and with literally EVERY other ski area in washington (excluding Hurricane Ridge) having fairly good-sized parks, they probably don't feel the need to add yet another one, that would only get compared to the others.

Dont worry, its a controlled slide.

i don't think white pass has a 'good-sized' terrain park, last i heard they only had a few rails.

Wouldnt you guys like them to cater to our needs though as newschoolers.

dont you feel a little ripped off that they only like old ppl and racers

they need to cater to our genre as well as everyone else. I know they make a lot of money but they could even make more to all of us who boycott the mtn because theres no park or 1/2 pipe

there aren't enough people there to strike to make anybody take any notice.

^ true, since people don't go to crystal to ski park, a lot of the people there don't want one. it might bring some new people over there, but not many. they've tried that in the past and it was farily unsuccessful

well in order to progress the newschool scene dont you think you need a park and pipe

for christ sake all the academys are turning to pipes and parks and soo 1/2 pipe skiing will be in the olympics

Meh, I'm not so big on the idea of being a 'newschooler' or a newschool scene or any of that. Cause then we start separating from being a skier. I have no problems with old people and racers. I've never raced, but they do their thing and its pretty cool and skillful. And one day, I will be an old man struggling down the bunny slopes. So PERSONALLY, I think its a nice thing to have a place without any park at all. Keeps park rats out of the area.

You should change your project from 'Why Crystal Needs a Park' (a really lame project subject by the way) to 'Skiers: Varying Viewpoints' and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of a terrain park, why people are for it, why against it, etc.

I'm surprised how real, thoughtful, and mature the responses have been thus far in this thread (not the norm on the NW regional forum, here).

So keep it up guys, give this guy some good material. You'll get a better grade then just Why Crystal Needs a Park

I think as far as having terrain parks available to the public, Whistler got it right. You have to get a terrain park pass before they let you into the 'big and dangerous' terrain park. Basically it makes it so crazy kids who learned to ski last week don't go up to it and say 'wow that looks fun' and hurts themself. you have to sign a special waiver saying that you are a competant skier and that you know what you're doing. That way the resort can offer the option of having a terrain park available but not just anyone can use it and they're not responsible if you get hurt.

Not afraid to be mistaken not afraid to try, not afraid to be uncertain not afraid to die
