I need some tips

What I always do is when I get on the rail, I reach for the end of it and stay low, Im a snowboarder, but when my skier friend started trying rails it worked instantly for him. start small on a box or something and good luck, have fun and welcome to the park scene. just don't go forgeting about powder.

just approach the rail with it between your legs ollie and turn 90 degrees to wichever side is comfortable for you, keep your weight centered and if you wanna come of the rail regular drop your front tail down to grip the rail and spin off, there, you got rails down now, oh and dont forgrt to hit it with speed

start at the rail with your knees bent and a good amount of speed depending on how long the rail is. pop or jump off the lip the spin sideways onto the rail, COMMIT dont slide it halfway sideways or diagnolly kinda. while on the rail keep your knees bent, put your weight on your lead foot and look at the end of the rail the whole time. to come off simply turn off right or left whether you want to come off switch or not

k your gonna get this alot, but I can see your new. Use the searchbar (at the top of the page) and type in "how to slide rails" and you should get 40+ other threads with good answers

DO NOT TURN/CARVE into your 90 degree spin. ROTATE 90 and remain centered and balanced on the rail. follow your momentum to switch or just ride away forward. Trial and error works, so when you fall off to one side a lot start to compensate little by little until you get your balance right.

think of it as running and jumping onto a floor covered in soap. if you were to do that you would want to lean forward. Also you want to keep low and feet in a wider stance. Wight low, centered, and commit, believe in yourself, thats all you need. Also dont go slowly, it is easier the faster you go, which most people wont tell you.

helps alot if you put your front ski with like a 45 degree or something on the rail, not just straight on.

not as much as this, but just so u get the picture : -- /

Approach the rail so that you have one foot on each side of it. When your about to get on the rail, pop and turn a full 90 degrees. Make sure when your pop your feet arent close together so when you land on the rail you will be in a wide posture, if both of your feet on each side of the rail this shouldn't be a problem. Once on the rail keep a balance stance i tend to put a little bit more weight on my leading foot to make sure i don't fall backwards. Keep looking at the end of the rail, don't look straight down, chances are you will slip off and land on your ass. As you approch the end of the rail simply just pop and turn 90 degrees either left or right.

speed is your friend. come in with a good amount of speed and pop a ninty and land in the center of your skis. look at the end of the rail. remember to stay low and keep a wide stance which will prevent you from slipping out and bruising your hips. hope that helps.

pretty much what she said. also be confident...i know that being unconfident when it has come to rails has been my downfall. literally haha so start small and be confident. and everything else she said.fully commit especially. go up to it with a somewhat wide stance and pop up and turn 90 degrees.

you should be fine. best of luck!

FULLY COMMIT!!!
the single most important piece of advice you can get. if you go into a rail (or any other trick you may try) scared, your going to wreck yourself. if your on a low box, falling off is not going to hurt at all 2 minutes after. keep your confidence up, even if it takes all day to nail one, and you will be fine. once you get that first rail down, every other one after that is going to be simple.

You want to approach the rail with your feet on either side, Pop then turn 90 degrees, you don't want to come from one side and turn into it, you will either hop over to the other side, catch your tips, or fall back, you want to keep your weight centered, keep your knees bent. If you want to get off regular then drop your front leg's tail, or if you want to get off switch (looks better) drop your rear leg tail. good luck

Weight on Front Foot.
look towards end of rail.
rail underneath arch in your feet.

Best way to learn however is to go try them, find an easier, smaller rail and just hit it a bunch until you're comfortable.

just dont think about it and do it. you will bail the first time but then your instincts will kick in and it will be natural

Yea i learned rails this year, you need to commit, have a good amoun of speed, and make sure you go straight at the rail.

But the one thing that pretty much made it for me was the gorilla stance. Keep your feet really wide, butt out, and hands out for balance. Pretend your a gorilla and your there. Trust me on that

basically there are 3 main factors that you need to do

-commit to doing the rail

-go at it with a decint amount of speed

-and put weight on your front foot

do all that and you should be fine, good luck

1. enough speed to get up the lip and do not carve.

2. when u turn 90 degrees its more of in ur hips dont think of actually spinning.

3. have a wide stance on the rail and look at the end of it.

some times it is easier to progress by starting out straight onto the box and the hit it diagonal then ssideways tht makes it easier to hit rails
