I need some brake bending input.

My new skis are 85mm at the waist. The normal brake on the PX12 is 80mm. Should I buy wide brakes? Like I know some shops won't bend the brakes for you if they have to bend them too much. And sometimes they can bend back a little. I've never really had this problem before because my skis have all been parks skis that are like 78 and 80 at the waist.

I realize that this is probably a really stupid question, but I just dont have any techy experience.

I believe that the PX12's brake is actually 85mm inbetween, but they advertise 80. The brakes might require a tiny tiny bit of bending.

bend them a tiny bit if necesarty. if you use the wide brakes then you may be to wide of brakes and may catch inthe snow/

nope, they are 80mm. They just fit over my t-halls, the 06 model that is. I had to actually pull them out a tiny bit.

Ok, thanks for the input guys.

But another question. What can be done with brakes that are too wide??? I found a pair of FKS 120's with the 120 mm brake. Obviously thats going to be fucking huge for my 85mm skis.

Brakes that are "too wide" aren't a problem - your skis will still stay together and they won't catch on stuff. The standard Look brakes will be fine for an 85mm ski - I mount them on PE's all the time and it takes just a little bit of bending to get them perfect.

yep its a typo, the only race stock look/rossi are the p18 wides, and they only have a 100mm brake. there is a new rossi commin outthough wiht the 100mm brake too.

I'm pretty sure the P18 wide has a 109mm brake.

As does the Rossi version (they came out at the same time) -FKS 185 FR (freeride)
