I need some advice

i ride horses alot. and im pretty experienced, just like any other person i make mistakes and fall off or get bucked off and get hurt. it happens all the time. today i was riding my horse shrek, he was acting weird rearing up and bucking and biting my leg when i gave him a que, but we ended up running on a ditch bank, and he is a big horse like 17 hands (for you non equestrians just think like those big huge clydesdale horses in the beer commercials) we were going pretty fast and i was leaned in on his neck so the wind wouldnt make my eyes water and he just stopped. of course i was caught by suprise and flew over his head and onto the ground, all i remember was my feet in the air feeling his ears on my stomach and than the ground and my head hitting the ground and a white light. he took off and a neighbor caught him, i was out for like a minute and came to. my neighbor helped mee home and now im sitting in my bed with a ice pack and my leg proped up.

my ankle is starting to turn purple and my head hurts bad, along with my neck and my wrist is hella swollen. should i go to the ER or just see what happens? and what do think the injuries are? cause im totally clueless to if my ankle is broken.

sparknote: fell off horse think i have a broken wrist and ankle. HAAALLPPP!

one problem. i cant drive with this wrist and foot, my parents are both gone till 9 pm and my neighbor left to go hunting.

if you're ankle was broken, you'd know it. as to the head injury - head injuries are nothing to take lightly. i worked with a guy that bumped his head in a hockey game, went home from work with a headache the next day, and was dead the day after that. if you wacked your head, it can't hurt to get it checked out. my 2 cents.

Yes, yes you are.

On a serious not, is there anyone you could possibly call to take you to the doctor?

idk, not really i could figure out where my friend is, but she is out in eagle which is an hour away and she dont have a license, im fucked. i will just go outside and show some people my boobs and tell them to take me to the hospital haha

this.

head injuries are not something to mess with. my friend, who is an incredible snowboarder, caught a tiny edge and smacked his head off the snow. when he got to the bottom of the mountain he was a bit wobbily and i kept insisting he go to the hospital. he waited until later that night when he had an immense headache...turns out he got a terrible concussion even while wearing a helmet. the doctor in the ER said most people just ignore it but it can cause severe side effects down the road.

if you want a perfect example look at natasha richardson.

anyways..go get checked. i mean it won't hurt at least you'll know you're fine.

i have had all the ligaments ripped in both my ankles from this horse falling on me so it could be that but it hurts worse than usual. idk how i would drive, its like trying to write left handed i would look like a dumb ass and probably crash

take 5 ibuprofen,

drive as normal.

or

even if you aren't going anywhere, ibuprofen stops swelling, which you want to stop for numerous reasons, not only because the ibuprofen will make it hurt less.

lastly ice is the miracle drug, even if it might hurt a little, you want to ice it

im going to the hospital. my wrist has been updated from little bit swollen to purple and black. my ankle looks like it is a raisin and my neck is swollen along with a bad headache and some dizziness.

tylenol didnt help, and my leg and wrist have been elevated all day with ice

went to the hospital was there like all night, i have a small concussion, whip lash, some torn ligaments in my right ankle, and a sprained left wrist. thanks for all your help. /thread

just to show the stress the importance of it ill repeat what everyone else has said, definitely go to the doctor. do whatever you need to to get there. head injuries are not to be taken lightly no matter how small it might seem
