OK, so i'm a bit of an audiophile, and need some new headphones. My last pair were Sony MDR-XD400's which can be seen here: http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start?CategoryName=hid_p_10icb_homestyleheadphones_audio&ProductSKU=MDRXD400&Dept=audio&INT=sstyle-pa_Headphones-deptfeature-MDRXD400|sstyle:sy_cat_content_p:pa. Anyways, after spending 65 bux on these they blew out and one ear doesn't work. So, its time to upgrade.

I'm looking for 3 things:

1. Louder than my MDR-XD400's

2. More bass than my MDR-XD400's

3. Less than $200

idk, i haven't heard goog things from bose. a lot of people say they're really overrated.

a while ago i was looking for some headphones and some guy on NS (i think scubasteve) reccomended sennheiser headphones. the sound quality was amazing even for the lower end model i got. i highly reccomend looking into this brand, or maybe try messaging scubasteve or something like that and ask.

check out the shure earbuds. they sell three variations at different price ranges. one pair is 299 at apple stores so i assume they're damn good

there are like 500$ Bose noise cancelling headphones, they're intense if you really wnat EXPENSIVE headphone those are the ones for you

there we go, that's the other brand i was thinking of. i think most of their headphones will be out of your price range, and they may not look the coolest, but they have incredible sound quality.

I was going to the city a while back and found this music place that actually carried these headphones in the store, and allowed me to listen. i don't know what type there were or anything, but it was easily the best sound i've ever heard from any headphones. I don't know a lot though, so i'd just do some research

dude, seriously, if your looking in that price range, the MDRvj700 sonys arae the best your gonna get. period. they are phenominal headphones, and have fun blowing them out, they wcan handle up to 3 watts. when hooked up to an ipod, they sound great. when hooked up to good equipment on a CD, they are mind blowing.

skullcandy is good. If you want true adiophiles headphones though, check out grado labs. I got the mid-range ones, by far thebest sound reproduction I have every heard. I also spraypainted them white so theyd lok like shit and not get stolen. I fyou listen to music on these things, you will hear instruments playing that you didnt kinow where in the song. And the ones you did know will sound way better.

no really, i have the TIs. skullcandys look cool, sponsor extreme sports and stuff. but for like actual sound quailty theyre just average to bad

and skullcandys are cool looking and all but really the sound is nothing special and the crushers just have some cool bass

I want a pair of good headphones, but small ones. Like high quality buds maybe. I don't even know where to start on that.

I have them and they're not overrated. The sound quality may not be the most accurate (it is DAMN good though) but the noise canceling capabilities are sooo useful. I hate going to the library to do work and its so nice to turn my noisey room into a symphany. Unless your going to listen to your headphones in a quiet room i would definatly get some noise canceling.

i have the bose quiet comfort 2's and they are the best headphones i have ever heard, great for on planes, they block out everything

everyone keeps saying the skullchrushers, but I feel that you need to know, they won't be as loud as the Sony's. Skullcrushers have bass, and that's it. Plus you need a battery, which runs out after 2 good days of skiing. But just remember they arnt near as loud, and without a battery it's a low end pair of headphones.

i definately agree with you about noise cancelling being a plus, but if you just try out some other brands you'll see that they're are some better ones for the price you would pay for the Bose. i have a pair of sennheiser px 200's and although they don't have a noise cancelling option, it's exactly the same. they aren't open air so all of the sound is contained and directed to only you, so no one else can hear your music either.
