I need me some skiers

I understand what you're looking for, and its hard to get a straight answer out of anyone on here. Well, lets see no poles is not really a non conformity thing at all i dont think. Andy Mahre, Pep Fujas, and Eric Pollard all have a tendency towards no poles because they view poles more as a tool. Like if they're hikin the backcountry they'll use them because its crucial in order to save energy when you're hiking. Um, and I would just like to point out that Burton took a full page ad in Freeskier a few years back that was hating on skiers. I think essentially its just immaturity, like i can do bigger better stuff than you. I personally think snowboarding is sick. Its super stylie and i think its fun to watch. THAT was an amazing movie. On that note most snowboard movies are really creative and put together better than alot of ski movies are. As far as ski movies go, I'd say Long Story Short was SICK this year, a film by Level 1 Productions. Poor Boyz Productions has also put out some great films- War was one of them. Alot of people are into Oakley outerwear, Helly Hansen, J. Lindenberg (spelling??) is a designer line. Yeah, so thats all i can really think of right now, but i have no problem with snowboarders, as long as they dont run into me. and i'm not even kidding, it has happened before, it sucks. We're all people of the snow, much love and respect. ya know?

All my opinion, and many others will disagree, but thats what you wanted. Any ski magazine will tell you what i am though

Random stuff about the culture

UNfortuantely there are too many out there trying to be thugs. Too many people hate on what others wear. Its better than it was 5 years ago, but one day skiers and snowboarders will have ONE ambition/movement and be able to ride together with no dramas, at the moment it is still very separated between the 2.

you'll get like 5 or 6 straight answers, however the majority of the population on here is middle schoolers that will try to turn it into a joke. haha anyways tho, the reviews and sia and other things on here should be of some help to you.

i just like to say fuck you to all the little kids being little dicks on this website. ahhh, that's much better. I don't get what they're all making such a big deal about. snowboarding and freeskiing are basically the same, so stop bitching at one another.

i truly don't know anything about the skiing biz, I dont read the magazines, I dont know the companies, etc. Every year I buy the cheapest pair of twins, get on my marshall fields gear, and just ride. that's what its about right?

I could answer some questions if you want.

What I've noticed is hot in snowboarding is leg pouches. I don't get it. What are you even keeping in there? Drugs? That's why they have tiny pokets in gloves.

Skiers Hate Snowboarders Because:

They hate how snowboarders get in the way on flat spots

How snowboarders sit on landings

How some snowboarders are ass holes

(personally all i hate is how they make skinny flat areas into roller coaster bumps)

Some skiers may hate snowboarders just to act thug.

The snowboarders that kill it with unreal style are just pure enjoyment. The snowboarders that sit down on jump landings and in the middle of the trails is the main problem I have with snowboarders. Other than that its all love.

bahah NS is probably the WORST place she could have asked this, noones gonna give her a straight answer. anyway, pm and i can answer some of your questions.

Ok. I came up with some questions and stuff and kinda the outline of the article. Since I live in SC, I can't get to a ski resort anytime soon to take pics of some skiers. So if anyone has any pics of themselves or others that they took that I could use, that'd be great. As of now, I'm not sure when this article will be finished. I'm kinda busy right now with a more pressing article and school stuff. If anyone has any info they think I could use, message me or email me.

In skiing one of there are several big mountain trends currently going on. In the mid and late 90's we got fat skis. An old skinny ski might measure 60 under foot, while the first generations of commercial fat skis, volkl explosive, K2 AK launcher, Rossi cut 11.5, measured 85-95. In the 98-00 period, people who lived in the mountains discovered they could ski these everyday. Twin-tips also started to appear. Skis are much fatter now, with 95 under foot considered normal for an everyday big mountain ski in Utah or Tahoe or somewhere like that. True powder skis are now measuring 110 under foot or more. Many people ski Gotamas, which are 105 under foot everyday. The point of this is that skis are now almost double the width that they used to be.

The next trend in big mountain skis is tampering with rocker and sidecut. Some pure powder skis are wider underfoot than they are at the tip and the tail. This is a great pure powder design. Others have rocker, which means that the tips and the tails are curved up more than they otherwise would be. This prevents tip dive, and allows skiers more forward pressure when skiing powder, without worrying about diving tips. I read a comment from Seth Morrison, one of the best skiers ever, where he mentioned that rocker was the part of ski design he was most into right now.

Don't take any of the rudeness on here personally, it's just people being obnoxious.

One of the trends in companies is small and specialized. Companies like 4frnt, Armada, Capitol, and many others make only twin tips and don't go after the middle aged carving ski market.

I've gotta admit, you're one cool chicka for a young'un...

I don't really have any ski info to add, you'll find most of it if you look around on NS, but keep on workin' it.

props to you little sista.
