I need help from a ski tech

What's going on guys,

Just need some insight from someone who works in a ski shop or gets this kind of thing done often enough that would give me some accurate info.

So I am probably adding some Faction Somas to my quiver for this upcoming season for an all mtn park set up, because it got a little tiring shredding on the 3.Zeros in the Catskills of New York, although they did surprisingly well. I mounted my 3.Zeros with FKS 140 bindings, a decision that I am now regretting because of this situation. I was thinking that I could slap some Guardians on the 3.Zeros and put my FKS on the Somas, but they issue would be the 115m brake that they have. Approximately how much would it cost (minus the price of the Guardians), so take off the FKS, get new brakes for the Somas, mount them, and then mount on the Guardians? Is this something that most shops would be able to do? Or should I just sell the FKS, they are in great condition, to someone on NS, and buy some STH's like I should have in the first place.

Thanks for the help.

A 115 on the Somas would be fine, they're a little wide, but not so much that you'll have problems with them. I would worry about it.

The soma is 92 underfoot right? If so then yeah te 115 will be way to big. Honestly for te cost I think your idea of selling them is financially the best plan. The brakes would be $115 at least so I would sell them if they are in decent condition and buy somthing else. You could potentially get somthing like an attack and have some money left to put towards the guardians or go sth2 like you said. This would be nice as both skis would feel similar binding wise but there are lots of other good bindings.

Whether or not you should sell your bindings depends on which STH you are talking about. If you are referring to the 16 you would need to get $245 for your bindings to make it worth it, which probably isn't happening. If you are talking about the 13's then you could buy a pair for a little more than the cost of new brakes and you'd only need to sell your bindings for like $80. Not knowing what conditions your bindings are in it's hard to say, though. Just subtract 115 from whatever you think you can get for them and if that's more than the cost of the bindings you are looking at then sell.

You will probably be charged around $50 per mount, so you are looking at $100 for swapping the bindings plus either new brakes (about $115 at least as stated above) or new bindings. Grand total of $215 (depending on how much you get charged for the brakes and assuming they are nice and don't charge you extra labor for taking the bindings off and swapping them and changing your brakes).
