I need Boots! Help Please!

Ok here goes: I know I need to go to a bootfitter. However, those are few and far between near me and nobody stocks a full range, so I need to be pointed in the right direction. I am 5'8-9 140 pounds, and an advanced BC skier. Recently I have been skiing a lot of park and I am getting fairly good especially on rails. I have:
narrow ankles
fairly narrow forefoot
relatively low arch
skinny legs (calfs)
Which boots should I be looking at. I want to go try on some stuff tomorrow but i have to travel a long way without a car. I need some hints as to which boots i should be looking at. My 27 Salomon Xwave 10s do not fit. Shinbang bad enough to kill a rhino. I'm looking for something good all mountain and good in the park. softish but not too soft. Help please!

 
shinbang doesnt really happen because a boot fits wrong on the foot.

if those xwaves fit you well on your foot and around your ankle/lower calf, then obviously salomon fits you well, and perhaps the manner in which you skied made it so you did not warrent such stiff boots as the 10s (you only weigh 140. The Xwave10s are fairly stiff, and not that great for buttering and jibbing)

I'd definitely try out other things from salomon based on what you've said, but also try Dalbello, and maybe nordica, based on your narrow ankles... Try Rampages, SPK's, Supercharger Ignitions or Beast 10s, and 1080 foils/ Impact 7's. Who knows, maybe Heads, Technicas, and Rossis might fit you okay. You just have to try on everything you can, really..

Just hope wherever you're going has a good bootfitter and CALL AHEAD OF TIME and make damn sure somebody good is there. Make an appt. if necessary.
 
just to clarify the Xwaves turned out to not fit well.. mistake made a while back but this year really started to hurt alot.. too loose around the ankle and calf.. will definitely look at dalbello and nordica if i can..
 
also DO NOT, i repeat DOOOO NOOOOOOT wimp out and not pay at least the $39.95 for a good pair of superfeet insoles.

I personally refuse to wear any SHOES without these things. Much less ski boots.
 
Shut the Fuck Up right about now! do you have any idea of the shit that is spewing from your mouth. If you read what he said, and his discription is acurate, Salomons are obviously not the right choice as he only said they did not fit well. And Shin Bang is a direct result of boots not fitting well. Also do you know anything about how the boots you listed fit? at all? I really doubt you do, seeing as how a) boot fit veries in a brand so to just suggest a brand is dumb as fuck, b) overall Dalbello, especialy Rampages, are about as far away as you can get from Nordica overall, especialy Beast series boots. To suggest boots in the first place, shows you have no fucking idea about what your talking about. It is impossible to give someone a suggestion of boots online with out ever having seen the shape of their foot/lower leg. Secondly to suggest the range of boots that you did, you went from fairly small volume to increadebly large volume boots, further shows how incompetint you are when it comes to boot knowledge, and fitting. So for the sake of humanity, please never even mention anything relating to ski boots again. As you don't know shit.

To the thread creator, it is very dificult if not imposible to sugest a boot over the internet or even a brand or set of boots. Since both feet and boots are very different, simmply saying narrow, narrow, low arch, narrow calf, is not really enough. Any good bootfitter will be able to help you out, they all carry something that is low volume. What location are you in?
 
now that I know you are in the UK, I am sorry to say I don't know many

bootfitters in the UK, but try a google search, I know TGR has a thread

of good bootfitters and there might be some from the UK in there. As

for trying on every boot you can, don't do that, you won't know what to

think affter trying on every model you can. The Best thing you can do

is go to a boot fitter, if you want to find one in the UK, google it, try and find reviews online of local bootfitters. Otherwise Saas Fe will have very good bootfitters there. and you could go to one of them.

First of all, shinbang can result from a whole slew of problems, from how the cuff of the boot fits, to how the liners are, to how bitchy somebody is about having something that high up on their leg and how somebody tightens them, etc.

I was saying that based on how the boot fit around his foot directly. I am a certified boot tech down here bro. I run into these problems all the time.. the convo goes like this

Me - "so how does it fit around your foot?"

Customer -"feels great! fits snug, nice and comfy... butttt..."

Me - "but what?"

Customer - "well.. the shin feels bad here, and thers a pinchpoint on the back here etc etc blah blah"

as for reccomending brands... Seriously? do you think i'm fucking retarded? I was just naming off a bunch of shit and basically saying "try these on if you hear about them.. because I really dont know what your foot looks like or what the heck fits you - hence why youre going to a bootfitter in the first place" You took me WAAAAAY THE FUCK OUT OF CONTEXT SO CHILL OUT LOL.

You are right, the Rampages and Beast/Ignition/Spark are different out of the box, but if he has a boot tech that knows how to do custom boot modification, you can actually get a pair of krypton series boots to fit just about anyone. Besides, do you or I even know if he has a low volume foot or a high volume foot?

Everything aside, i'll admit i didnt do the best to help this dude out here.. but whatever it was 8 in the morning and was barely awake.

I help so many people on this site with boots dude... and I've even fitted and done custom bootwork for several of them. so dont even throw bullshit haha.

Based on your description (which, i dont know what to think of since I havent seen your feet, had you walk, sized you up etc) a fitter will likely throw you in something like a Lange or a Dalbello to start off with. Make sure you tell them what kind of skiing youre doing, and all the other basic questions.

well basically the problem is that i have to travel to different stores to try different brands.. i.e dalbello at one shop, full tilt at another, lange at another etc.. so i am trying to find a few boots that are worth the trip :)
 
If the boot fitter is good they will find something for you. They will carry (atleast should) carry boots that are small, medium and large volume. Also a good bootfitter can make a small volume boot a large volume boot. It's not fun but it can be done.
 
i have 08 nordica ignitions, great boots. high quality buckles. fuzzy inside of the boot, this looks awesome and feels.... fuzzy! hard/soft switch in the back, very versatile. great shock absorption, i have yet to feel a hit. i have high arches and skinny calves, but these boots can be molded ( i think ) and anyways just all around a great boot. recommend it to anyone.
 
went to the bootfitter, tried on a bunch of boots.. SPK, Atomic High Rolla, Full Tilt Konflict, Lange Troublemaker ended up getting Head Mojos.. Custom insole.. Stoked on them.. End Thread.. if you're in the UK Ski Bartlett in uxbridge is sick..
