ok so i have an idea for next winter when im outa highschool. First question that will make this posible is, is the drinkin age in wistler 18. next how much do u think it would cost me per month to live and party in wistler a month. Im talkin like a resonable rent for sumpin close to the resort but not realy close that is expensive and like food and drinking aka clubin n shit. I realy want to do this for like 4 or 5 months cus its sumoin iv always wanted to do.

also how much is a season pass to the resorts

im not sure if it works like that but i was thinking bout that also. i think it how old you are when the season starts but might be wrong.

no its how old u are when u buy ur pass... as in when u pay for it. so get ur pass early and ull get the student rate

so we're talking ~500 for rent plus bills or not... ~200 for food or more.. depending if ur on the spaghetti ski team or not... who knows how much u drink... then theres the meth.... u planning on not working at all? have fun with that.

wow and i just looked my birthday is october 10th and that is the days the early bird pass date ends idont think that means anything tho

also wat like towns should i be looking for a room in, like ones that it will be cheaper but not that im going to be at risk of being shot or have to room with a male prostitute. Also is there alota job opertunities in the area. But i guess i could just get a job at the resort.

why dont you spell your words properly?

Towns fairly close, like 1/2 hour to an hour drive are Pemberton and Squamish. But if you wanna party and are only there for a month definitely stay in Whistler.

French_fry my words arnt spelt properly because I im 18 and i dont spell well and thats alrite i guess cus iv tryed alota things to change that and they havnt worked.

are you from the states? you will need a working visa. snd there are places to live that are in whistler, but not next to the mountain...don't go live away without a car. and you will have to work, whistler is a very expensive place to live. I am just making sure yo have a heads up and look into this a bit more

i think youll be able to get a cheap house that has a nice family atmosphere in Mt Currie, its right below whistler, and hey you'll be able to drink before you turn 19 too. yaaa

It's this simple..

you simply have to plan on having at least $800 per month at your disposal.. otherwise you will be homeless or starving or both.

This is NOT including the price for your pass or equipment and such.

This is pretty much what it will take to have a place to sleep, have some food.. and perhaps even get out to a bar once in a while.

This is a foriegn country and as such you can't simply walk in and "get a job".. you have to go through the correct channels to obtain the necessary permits (visas.. and not the type your mom uses to buy stuff)

Since you can qualify for a student visa, you are in luck as they are not too difficult to obtain. This will allow you up to I believe one year of travel.

If you want to come here and NOT work.. in other words you saved hella cash and are gonna party like a rockstar.. well in that case you are always welcome here.

BUT in that case you should plan on a target number of $1200-$1500 per month just to get you into the party door.

So if you want to stay for four or five months that means you need to roll into town with around $7500 at your disposal.

If you make it a nice round ten large you should have a good couple of months and possibly even get some quality ass while you are here.

This moderate reality check has been brought to you by "Life, it sucks anyways"...

^ $1200-1500 a month? what kind of a ski bum are you? don't you know the ways of the poach?

let's be realistic now. how much you need to save is the reciprocal of just how ruthless and cunning you are.

bumlife. true.

Give him a break on his spelling, he's american remember...

Yeah only working 3 days a week will be tough, good luck with that. Most people here work multiple jobs. Just get a job with the mountain so you don't have to buy a pass, that'll save you a ton right there. And I would budget yourself at least $1000 a month for rent and eating and drinking. More if you wanna party lots.

Most subdivisions are close and the bus system is pretty good, most ppl don't have trouble getting around, so it doesn't matter too much where you live. Brio, Whistler Cay Heights and White Gold are close to the village, and Nordic is close to Creekside. Alpine Meadows is far.

Good luck with your plans, you'll have a wicked time if you work it out right.

^ dude you got it all wrong. Im budgeting $800 a month to live like a king. mind you i dont drink but you can add that on top and figure yours out. you dont need to sell your soul and work for the mountain to get a pass. you can get any job and 99% of the time they will buy your pass. and dont move to brio or whistler cay if you want to save money. bayshores and alpine meadows are the way to go. the bus runs everywhere and the rent is cheaper. i plan on working 30 hr/week and i wont be cutting back on anything. and thats not dipping into the savings . if you are coming with a few grand in the bank you can easily work 3 days a week. fuck if you park a van in lot 1, dry your socks in starbucks in the morning, crash meetings and go to the $2 youth group dinners, you could live off $200 a month easy.

just cause Comrade Local Housing Minister doesn't come around to our igloos to feed our dogsled dogs while we're out hunting for seal and moose doesn't mean we don't have people to teach us how to spell things correctly. the CENTER of this issue i would say is good HUMOR... or something. ya goddamn commies.

^ Good work, that's impressive. I spend around $800 a month on everyday stuff, and that's without rent. And I'm still usually short. I guess if you plan it right (which I don't) it's possible. And yeah I forgot that lots of employers will give you pass, just make sure to ask when your applying.

But if you don't drink you must save tons. I know last winter I easily spent more than $200 a month on booze, so our estimates aren't that far off.

i would but i'm here in Canada and my local division of labor manager is having a dispute with the zone commander over whether my bread ration will be increased this month. comrade comissar thought my propaganda promotion was excellent so i applied for a second crust. in any case, i imagine the paper work should take at least 8 to 10 months so i'm affraid i won't make it to iraq... or surrey or... wherever.

White people HAVE become a MINORITY in America. On our streets hang Aryan men who refused to accept the "New Way," or perhaps they just looked too White. Perhaps they never thought MUD RULE would really come.

White girls who refuse the advances of Negroids, are publicly gang-raped so as to serve as examples to other shuddering Aryan females. Children are now taken from their houses, by force, to be brought up in a "Multi-Cultural" home of Negroids, Arabs, Muslims and Gooks, all in the name of "brotherhood and love"...

And yet, some fight back! Alone or in small cells, Aryans...men and boys...but most of all women who stand the most to lose, since the decline of real men among the White Folk, strike back...at night and with any weapon near at hand.

How often do the hunted Whites think back to the "old days," when action and dedicated work, might have Reached, Educated and Organized enough of our folk, to have averted what now seems like a hopeless Hell. All the old excuses for not working for the Movement...My Job...My Money...My Friends...My Fun...My Beer, all gone. All the boasting, but never REALLY sacrificing for what they knew was coming, now it's too late, too late, TOO LATE. Are YOU a TALKER or do YOU make a difference now?

hey josh why dont you email this guy. it sounds like they would hate to see any Pakis and Japs (oh whats that sir? those arent politically correct terms?????) with their WMDs threatening the freedom of the good people of THE United States of America [stands up and salutes the flag].

dont make fun of michigan or teddy knape will teleport to your house with super cyborg skills and use that crazy jet li death grip on you.

I am just saying i lived in whistler for 3 years, and i just moved away because of the cost of living being to high for the lifestyl i want. I didn't was to live with 8 people anymore and pay $500 rent for a tiny room. I worked 7 days a week between 3 different jobs. it wasn't easy.

yeah pack all of your shit and try it out...i give you 3 weeks before your either homeless, broke, lynched or dead.

its actually the series of events that will happen...

you get kicked out cuz your broke, so you sleep in a ditch and get raped/lynched and left to die.

I don't understand why anyone here who lives in Whistler is bashing this kid. We were all in his shoes at one point. Living the lifestyle you desire in any town is not easy when you are starting out. Be prepared to make some sacrifices, practice budgeting before you move out, save up as much cash as you can, but most of all, HAVE FUN! See you on the hill!

We may have all been this kid at one point in time, erica, however we at least take the time to spell check! Reading a post like that just led me to believe he isn't taking this seriously and so I gave him a not serious answer. Pulser9, if you want to be taken seriously and get some good responses, take yourself seriously and learn to express yourself more effectively using the written word.

we're laying on him because this town is full of ppl like him who have no idea what their getting into before they arrive here and end up broke, homeless/jobless. its good he's trolling for info though, but from the sounds of things he's got a long way to go. can he find whistler on a map? life's so much easier here when u arrive with a plan.

I think the first step in the right direction is to say, "I understand that I cannot be hired to work in foreign countries without some form of government documentation permitting it."

That's really the main issue, I think. You'll have a lot of trouble living in Whistler without... uh... money. A job is sort of a necessary evil.

Yeh, I`ve been there a few months. If you want to go for the winter, consider creekside as its cheaper than close places to the village, and you still have the ski in ski out with the creekside gondola.

best thing is check Alluradirect.com or something like that, play with spelling if it doesnt work.. owners of condos, deal with them, or pique magazine...

Man, if you go to whis for a blast, either calculate MINUMUM 1200$ a month, and that is 500 for rent, partying is expensive, and once you`ll start, you`ll never stop. Plus, booze is a lot more expensive in bc than anywhere else....
