I need advice...

So I got in a fight with my mother over weather or not I should start urban skiing... I live in the Rockies and grew up skiing big lines and stuff but it's getting boring. Tonight I told my mom that I wanted to build a featur in our front yard and she freaked out, saying that I'm gonna kill myself skiing like that. She thinks that it's not what I really want and I'm just trying to do what I see in the movies, but it's what I want.

I'm posting this on NS because I want to know if there's other teenaged kids with this problem...

Should I be a good daughter and do what they want or should I do what I want with my life?
 
You always need to do what you want in life, but sometimes you need to decide whether what you need to do in life is really what you want, if it involves upsetting those close to you. But thats honestly a different situation.

Talk to your mom, and build a rail, tell her its not that dangerous, promise you will wear a helmet, keep the rail low, whatever etc. i dont give a shit. Trust me, it'll all be OK
 
This fucking reeks of troll.

You grew up skiing big lines and backcountry and now you want to just trash your pink name body on concrete and steel.
 
My parents were ticked when i built a rail in the yard, constantly watching us hit it from the window and flipping out on us when we fell but if skiing is really what you want explain it to them and they will understand... or at least let it be and think it will pass... which i think we all know that loving skiing never passes

 
Tell your mom skiing big lines is about 100x more dangerous than hitting a rail, and you should probably expand your backcountry and big mountain skiing if it's getting boring.
 
Well if she still is freaking out, and telling you how to live your life. You may have to wait until you turn 18 becoming adult leave the house and then you can do whatever you want.

If you don't even know what you want then no, you have no business trying to hit urban ( or it just sounds like you're trying to build a back yard setup)

Dude do what you want. My dad called me crazy when I built my own rail a week ago and it's been the greatest thing. Just do what you need to do to have fun. But yea you are a little confused on urban and backyard skiing. Either way, do what you want.
 
Do it in the backyard. If i was your mother i wouldnt want the neighbors seeing the remnants from a construction site in my front yard either.

Skiing on a backyard setup doesnt look good. It will wreck the lawn, and generally is a fucking eyesore.

Stop being overly dramatic(you are, its just a fact whether you want it tto be or not), and move on with your life.
