I need a Ski Tech's help

My brother got new, larger boots for Xmas and the rossignol power 100 bindings on his skis needed to be adjusted. We found the screw that brings the heel piece back but we dont know how tight to make the boot in the bindings. Is it enough to just tighten it enough to the rollers on the toe pieces?
 
Do you know how to do the forward pressure? Put it to where you can click in, and then adjust the screw on the back so that it is flush with the little plastic housing around it.
 
Yeah the little plastic piece of housing has a recessed c in it...adjust that screw until when the boot is popped in it is flush with the most recessed part of the C, not the outermost part. After you get it adjusted pop it out and back in to make sure its sittng on the track right.
 
Do those bindings have a orange colored plastic shim underneath the heel piece? If it does, there's a line indicator on the housing that should be pointing somewhere between a cutout on the orange shim.

If the indicator is outside the range, then you will need a remount. Why? There has to be enough room for the heel piece to travel forwards and backwards while you're skiing. If the forward pressure spring bottoms out, then your effective DIN could be a lot higher or lower.
 
I figure that the confusion will cause them to just bring the bindings to a shop... j/k

All in the interest of safety really since this is something that could be overlooked and result in a season-ending injury.

Ryno seems like a smart guy though... right? Right? =D
 
Flynn's explaination is right. Try and do it yourself if you want but why risk it? Take them to a shop to get them checked - it will take them one minute if it's not busy and they won't (shouldn't) charge you.
