I live in Denver and go skiing so I need somthing to go up the mountians. I need somthing reliable and easy to work on. I could go either truck or car but I dont really want another SUV. I recentally sold my 1995 pathfinder due to transmition problems (1995 pathfinder = best car ever) I need somethnig with enought horse power to get me up the mountians the pathfinder was lacking here. I have 2 decisions to make 1) car or truck. 2) 0-5g's or 5-12g's I am still in college so I think that I would like to go cheeper but I will probably have this car for 2-3 years so something nice.

I was looking at Subaru's and Toyotas I like Tundras.

Beside that I cant really think of anything else, no rear wheel drive...

yeah the tundra looks pretty nice, its also not to bad with gas, for a pick up its someing like 25 hwy, one of the VW passat wagons might be sick, ive always been a fan of wagons

outbacks are really good in the snow+the stationwagon would fit your skis without a box. they're pretty reliable cars.

if you are gonna get a truck then tundra for sure, they are the best.

personally i would get the subie because it more practical as far as gas milage goes

they are more pratical, but you can get lower gas milage cars for cheaper and the amount of money so save buying a more expensive car with good mpg you might in the long run loose money. I would go with a truck with more than a regular cab, trucks are very useful especially if you are moving or know somebody who is and they can get you to the mountian

my friend has an outback and its been every where. His parents are big skiiers, hikers, and bikers. They have taken it to mount washington, which it like the biggest mountain in the north east.

Get an Audi, My A4 1.8T Quattro gets good gas mileage on the highway and decent around town, depending on how I'm shifting. And the Quattro all wheel drive setup is amazing. Plus, you can't go wrong with a turbocharged german rocket.

While an Audi would be nice (I want one too) its probably out of his price range. The WRX is probably as well, albiet just. But an older subaru outback, like 1999-2000, would probably work quite well. Plus its bigger than the WRX, and even in my wagon I have a hard time fitting 4 guys and all the gear. As a bonus they get decent gas milage and are very reliable (not something that can be said for most germans).

As for a truck, unless you want to get an old one with a big V8 you aren't going to find that power you are looking for.

I really like audis but I think they might be a little too expensive. My buddy just bought an 01 s4 and it is prerry fucking sick but the maintence and parts on an audi are rediclious. I would buy a wagon but common a wagon nuf said. I think I might just have to buck up and get the tundra and go into debt.

Late 90's A4 can be had for around 7k, but you're looking at hefty maintenece costs. They aren't cheap cars. They are awesome, but not cheap.

I'd go Subaru. Get an Imprezza of some sort. Wether newer or older. Eitherway they are great cars. Good MPG, reliable, and can go ANYWHERE with snowtires on them.
