so the time has come to start looking for colleges and trying to decide what to do. this isnt a "NS!! tell me what to do!!" thread...i would just like some helpful ideas, or whatever..

i'm looking at going to college for something along the lines of computer science, web design, video editing, broadcasting...something like that.

so what is there to go for? i dont know much about all the names you call careers, so whats out there? what are the names for those types of careers?

thanks

What are your grades? Where do you live? Where do you want to go to school? Small or big college? You gotta give us a little more info.

I'm going to major in business mangement, and I want to get a management position at some big mountain.

You said broadcasting, and I know that Syracuse University has a good broadcasting program (a couple of ESPN guys went there I think)

For video or web design, hit up The Art Institute of Portland in Oregon. It's about an hour (correct me if I'm wrong) from Mt. Hood, complete with buses to the hill I'm pretty sure. Great school.

my grades are all A's. cept for math...thats a b or c.

i'd rather go to a small er school. not like a big university.

what can you do with a degree in video? computer science? whats that?

i'm really out of the loop when it comes to this stuff. so please dont make fun of me. thanks

Haha no worries. Computer science has more to do with the technical aspect of computers. With a degree in video you could do producing, maybe directing, I don't really know for sure. But if you wanted to make like ski or skate films or whatever, buy a nice cam, get a subscription to a couple video magazines, and just film and edit a ton. Get a solid portfolio and go to some media companies and show it off. Or start your own!

a degree in computer science would be similar to software engineering. (This is a very simplified answer..)

depending on my money situation...im going to try and get a decent camera...not only for doing what you said on the side...but just so me and my ski friends have a good one

what about like video editing for tv commercials or doing like switchboards for broadcasting tv or live stuff...or like doing video for sports events and all? anybody else? thanks
