I need a hug....

Ice-Is-Scary

New member
There's nothing on the outlook for the next week guys, whats going on here? I tried to calm peoples nerves last week thinking we are just in a fluke weather pattern, but it's looking worse and worse and alta/bird are projected to open in 9 days. It says no snow for at least the next 7. I'm getting "the fear"

On an unrelated note, altas new website is pretty nice.

as bad as it seems i have seen it worse out here. granted this is getting bad. i have seen it much worse. remember the year when we got 9 feet over thanksgiving.

That was the year before I came offtrail, but a friend told me how they hiked superior in shoes a few days before thanksgiving - no snow at all. Then 100" in 100 hours. It'll show up. I'm glad I've got climbing to keep me going, or I'd be going crazy right now.

Yeah I had climbing too, but my climbing partner in a drunk frenzy peddling from my house across town to get ass one night, crashed and fucked his foot up, no more climbing. That was about 7 weeks ago. I just fixed my ATV the other day so as soon as I'm over this sickenss I'm gonna go ruin an ecosystem somewhere

first off ice isn't scary you wuss, second get your gun the hell out of utah take it back to texas, three you need a life. not a hug.

My deepest apologies, there just isn't any snow, and it makes me go crazy. but i have been know to salt ones cereal.

^ yo i think it was just term for "hitting mad big jumps with lots of snow" because there is none now. Wait. no, yeah thats what it means. in fact i'm positive.

i missed the sarcasm in your post if there was any.

this sucks...... i just checked weather, it still has no snow for 10 days. Does anyone know if the canyons is opening on the 19th? Better get out our rock skis....

Well there was a little drizzling today in the valley. It was pretty chilly too. I dont konw if thats just because of an inversion or what, but the mountains looked really cloudy. Could have gotten some.

if you look at noaa's website and their models (why depend on dan pope when you can get it more accurate yourself?) it's showing a nice group of high pressures all the way through the model range. its also showing a possibility of a storm dropping out of idaho around the 14th, maybe dipping into utah, and a southern, monsoon pattern storm in the area of the 27th. but nothing remotly near getting the resorts open with natural snow by thanksgiving...

hahahaha!!! Oh poor boys and girls. I'm at the beach. It's 80 degrees and I'm gonna run and swim and skim and watch dolphins and seals and sharks and think about how awesome the ocean is and how glad I'm not in utah right now! Ahhhh....... dolphins and sea shells.

Adrenaline thats all good...but honestly weatherman know absolutley jack shit about any type of weather more than two days out. Meterology is still a bunch of bullshit I think. The last 3 storms that missed us they were all saying up to a foot or two, even a day or two before the storm....and we got nothing. Now today and yesterday we have gotten some rain and a few inches and they didnt predict that at all. Weatherman are the biggest pieces of shit around, they cant even do their job and forecast weather. All they do is take guesses everynight, I could do as good of job as eubank or any of those fools. thats my rant

You think NOAA has any idea whats going to happen in salt lake in 10 days? hahaha thats a good one, and even noaa seems to be a little better than the local weather people...and they still blow.

I just wrote steve baron an email about how his job is a joke and I could predict the weather better by drawing from a hat.

^woah now, that was uncalled for. any snow today then? it was raining pretty decent around noon today. lets give it a look

loyalty? are you kidding, so you will never ski at another mountain your whole life..that has to be the gayest thing i've ever heard, its great to have a home mountain to come back to, but traveling to other places, checking them out, playing on different terrain, meeting new people and all that is amazing

nope never, i don't believe in riding more than one place. but promoting CO in a post about utah being sad doesnt really help. obivously if we could all just take a trip to CO we wouldnt be sitting here online bitching... and i love burritos so shove it!

^well i say fuck loyalty if we aint getting no snow. were not like dogs to our mountain masters. im giong to CO, next weekend, but am gonna see my boys the broncos kick some ass. on a brighter note, alta has recorded 8" of freshies over the last 24 hrs as of 230 this afternoon.
