my girlfriends got an invasion on her bird feeder so i slept over last night. This morning after her morning plowing i went outside and shot 7 of them in a row and just finished cleaning them all (took fucking forever) and now i wanna cook them because its like 20 pounds of nice meat.

The problem is im a 20 year old man thats never cooked anything more than bacon and eggs and one time made a few pumpkin rolls. So ns, i know atleast one of you have lived in the woods and know how to cook game so help a brother with alot of dead squirells out with a very easy recipe for dummies almost. I like anything but especially like cajun and bbq kinda stuff and that stuffs easy to make i hear.

Thanks!

Well, once you clean the meat, just put a rub on it and grill it like you would with any other meat. Just pay attention to how it cooks, cause it probably cooks at a different rate then pork or beef.

Get rid of the fat if there is any and make stir fry, sandwiches, ground it up and make burger...... So many possibilities. I remember an episode of 1000 ways to die where a guy ate unclean squirrel or something and died

what the fuck, op says: "never cooked anything more than bacon and eggs"

and you say:

"...it probably cooks at a different rate then pork or beef."

"just cook it like you would chicken breast."

seriously, can't you read?

op, here is what you need to do:

• douse the squirrels in a bucket of water, or spray with a hose, until the fur is soaking wet, this helps removal

• after wetting them, pluck the hair starting from the base of the tail

• make a cut through the base of the tail bone, but not through the hide on top of the rump, without removing the tail

sqtwo.gif

• place the back legs on a board, place your foot on the squirrel's hind feet & cut towards head about one inch

sqthree.gif

• make a cut in front of each hind leg & pull up on the tail; peel the hide towards head until both front legs are exposed

sqfive.gif

• swap ends with the squirrel (avoid touching the flesh), stand on the tail, and remove hide from back legs

sqseven.gif

• pull the front legs through, cut front feet off, then hind feet & head

sqnine.gif

• carefully remove the entrails (this gets bloody, don't worry about mess though), then wash the body cavity

• you now have a clean and ready to cook squirrel

• if i were you, i would roast the squirrel in a pan with some vegetables, basting it every 10-20 minutes

• you could also cook it & remove from the bone, then make squirrel pie or stew

• you could slice up the meat, fry it in a pan, and serve with fries

well i obviously can't read either.

probably best for you is just to slice the meat into 2 inch long pieces, remove bones, marinade in a mixture of chopped chilli, garlic, lemon juice, black pepper & olive oil for a good while (one hour at least would be great, overnight if possible), then heat a frying pan up, and throw in the squirrel. fry it for a minute or two, turning the pieces every now and then, until they're golden brown and crisp on the outside. if you aren't sure when they're cooked, cut a piece in half, and when the inside is no longer a pinky colour, you're good.
