I need a car

So the time has come, and I really need to get a car. I don't have a ton of cash, can only probably afford around 6 grand. I need something with 4 wheel drive, I live in colorado and want something I can drive to the mountains in the winter. Good gas mileage is a plus, as well as a stick shift. I've always liked xterras, but I don't know how good of one I can afford. Any ideas?

not sure you can find a good xterra for 6 grand. so you know what that means...
BUY A SUBARU.

actually since gas prices are really high and the demand for suvs has gone down you should be able to find something pretty decent with 4wd. Try to find a jeep grand cherokee with an inline 6 engine, it get pretty good mileage but is really dependable. To prove my point I work ay an auto auction and a 2005 Grand Cherokee which was loaded with features and only 30k sold for $13000 and was told that they should be around $20000

I gotta a 97 GMC Jimmy S15. Absolutely slays it in the snow. Good tires super reliable. Automatic tho. I'll sell it for 3K. It gets about 24 MPG on the hiway. I'm in Steamboat.

ford taurus, its lived on a mountain for the past 3 winters, slays it in the snow, got a great hood for jibbing, fit kit already installed on top for racks, 6 seater, front vanity grill removed for easier access to the tow-out bars, going for 4 hundo. i repeat, 400 dollars. runs great, 24 mpg, im in seattle.

true about SUV sales going down. i dont think you can use the auction as a deciding factor though. a 2005 cherokee is a 4 year old car and they only retailed for around 25K in the first place. Auctions like that are meant to sell cars cheap. its the reason i went to so many when i worked at a dealer. If there is no reserve on a 2008 audi and theres only 1 bidder i very well could get that car for like 2 grand. same with your cherokee. depends on how many bidders are interested in it.
regardless... you can find a cheap SUV yea, but it will rape you in the long run if gas stays the same. like you said, thats why sales are down.

save and buy an 02 or 03 wrx, they are sooo sweet, best mountain assault vehicle in the world and if you reflash the ecu you can get like 30 mpg.

hey man, the heat works fine so lets not go knocking it. the ac is broken, but the windows work. its 400 because its a 1990, but its only got 72,000 miles (bought it off my grandma, 11 years old, 11,000 miles) and my sister rear ended a guy so its got mismatched hood/fenders from the junkyear, but like i said, you spray a little wax on the hood, its jibtastic. Is it a perfect car? no. but it runs without problems and you totally get all the ladies with the bench seat up front.

subaru wrx for the win! check out www.awdpirates.com. It is a subaru community in Colorado, people post cars on there for sale and shit, so check it out mang. You could also probably find an older Audi A4 for about $6500. It will be over 100k miles but as long as it has had its timing belt replaced and you change the oil frequently you are golden.

subaru should really be a sponsor on ns because they get so much hype on this iste. but its for a good reason they are amazing cars in this situation.

well look no further than the taurus described above. a solid car at a great price, im just moving to chile so i need to sell it. all it needs is some love. heres a video of me doing a pillow drop onto it from a snow bank. and yes, that is the snow accumulation from one day.

I will throw in a pair of Scott P4's 181 w. bindings scott goggles and new poles plus a full tank of gas. If you purchase my 97 Jimmy for the asking price of 3k. What a fucking great deal!!

I just bought an 03 chevy silverado, V8, four wheel drive and 20 miles to the gallon, with a rhino liner, only 9 grand I am in love with it and cant wait to take it to the mountain in a snow storm
