I Miss This Ian Compton

I'm with u, although i don't think The Weak is "weak".

Some people like tail taps, nose/tail presses, 1 footed slides, and gnarly stall/shifty bonk shit.

And other people prefer swaps, pretzels, 3 swaps, and big spins off rails.

It all comes down to preference, there's nothing wrong with either. I liked Ian's old style better... but that's not to say i don't appreciate the skill it takes to do everything he does now. What i think is really cool is that Ian has been on both sides of the spectrum, throwin down bangers with style to boot. And now he's settled into what he likes and has fun doing. That's what it's all about.

 
It's the complete opposite. Skiing reached its capacity with the overly baggy look, and Ian and Cole are bringing variety to the scene.
 
not so sure about that anymore these days. i think they are on the new big trend, and the baggy oversized look is what is starting to become more rare.
 
I myself love wearing the baggiest shit on and off the hill, but I like style like this because honestly, Ian Compton is the skinniest skier ever and he can't pull off "baggy". He looks incredibly styley in his skinny stuff and not like a girl either because he doesn't combine it with a long jacket, just a nice hoody. He can't pull off baggy but can definetly pull of skinny style.
 
I'd definitely agree that skiing is moving towards the fitted look though. Snowboarding has been there for a little while and skiing is beginning to follow.
 
yeah the weak is pretty bad. I can't believe that shop pays him to make those, they're boring and not funny.
 
the weak is tight for what it is! ian is not trying to be like every other kid on newschoolers. he has his own style and he highlights how free style skiing is suppose to be... FREE, STYLE, and SKIING. Ian is one the happiest kids on the hill and still kills it in the park.
 
he isnt 19 anymore kiddies he isnt gonna be dressing in 10xl, he is going to be in clothes that actually fit. get over it. if you want baggie there are plenty of skiers like that for you to go watch, dont bitch on compton
 
I agree, I miss the old style compton. i feel like he was a bit more aggressive before

not that there is anything wrong with his new style. Compton is a very entertaining skier for sure

and he's hilarious.

actually you know, i really don't mind the whole "just a normal white guy" look haha

somewhere in between thug and max hill is where it's at.

I'm going to hypothesize that ian was at his technical best during the year where he got second at rails to riches

ian should just get back in the van and go get bangers

 
he only changed his look, and turned his afterbang into funbang. His style now makes him look like he is having fun, and that is because he is having fun.
 
such an invalid argument. so many other edits out there are showing the same free expression except they're not boring as fuck. lol

The hate isn't for the concept Ian has put into these edits, it's because they truly suck.
 
Although his current style/bag of tricks is still sick. I can say that was one of those park edits I will never forget, I remember looking up to Ian and just being mind fucked at the tech shit he did.
 
I'd just like to bump this thread to say that although I've never been impressed by The Weak, his new edit Maiden VT is so fucking sick and I retract everything I say in this thread. Kid is killin it showing us what skiing is really about. Compton you've done it!
 
I am one of those people that disagree with you. Your "new" Ian Compton is fresh and a breath of fresh air at a time when there are, like, four styles in skiing. (Obviously there are more). But it's great to see someone doing it differently.

 
Wow, crazy seeing how much his style has changed. For me though it doesnt matter his style or the sorts of tricks he is doing as long as he is on skis he will always be killing it. soo sick.
