yes, i was at snowjam boston today and it was completely kickass. I got to meet a pro skier for the first time in my short freeskiing career. I know all you people will say 'i met so-and-so and shit at such-and-such camp' well i am not fortunate enough to attend a ski camp, or ride at a mountain which merits the presence of a pro, but my experience was really cool. i basically said 'love you flat 7's man' and we talked skiing for a short while. he is a really down-to-earth cool guy with even cooler hair. some of you may know him personally and not agree, but i think meeting him and talking was totally kickass. and i got lots of free shit.

I wasn't a big fan of his while he was competing a snowjam. He just kept throwing the same trick. Which worked out for him, and did the right thing to win. I found him a bit boring to watch though.

Rex Thomas, Mauro Nunez, Myles Ricketts and Mark Abma are all some of the nicest guys on the freeskiing circuit. I had the fortunate chance of meeting -sharing a beer with them this summer at camp. They are really down to earth guys who dont give a shit how good you are and really help you with your own tricks. They were always very helpful-encouraging and exceptionally hillarious. As most pro-skier whistler locals generally are.

just to comment on what sushi said... at the albany snow jam most of the competitors were throwing the same trick the whole time, but think it's because you have to to get something diallied on a QP like that. i'd have to say hibbert did a good job of throwing different shit and he doesn't get the respect he deserves. also, sturbenz's corked whatevers looked fucking awesome even if he only landed like one real good.

I was standing in the crowd and this tall guy with long hair was walking around listening to music. I was like that guy looks like a pro skiier. I figured out later it was Greg Tuffelmire. If only I would have known sooner I could have talked to him or something.

 
Rex is completely full of himself. He is not down to earth at all. He is like the new Josh Loubek. There are tons of non-sponsored skiers in whis that are better. Two years ago he spent an entire night at my house talking about how cool he was.

Rex Thomas was throwing autographed posters into the crowd, and yeah, he was acting like Loubek, but then again, hes still a really cool guy, I was talking to him for awhile.. and he put up with Bryan Gallant...

haha... rex is a really nice guy... i talked to him frequently at dave murray this summer... and yes sometimes he is full of himself and can be a jerk (whenever mauro asked him if he had the time he would just reply with a 'yes'), his a kick ass guy that took the time out to talk to me on several occations after camp

Snowjam was a great time, the people from Molson were super helpful and got me a press pass so I could shoot from the top deck. Friday's weather sucked but they didnt cut any of the skiers. There were only supposed to be 6 on sat, since there were 7 one was gonna be cut. But all the skiers had really high scores so they let them all compete the next day. The giving away of free shit at the end was funny, if you could see it from up above a lot of girls were showing their tits to earn a ski or a boot. Now I dont get it, what good does one ski or boot do you? Dropkick sucked, there were so many morons there. OK NEVER WEAR A T-SHIRT OF THE BAND PLAYING. Then all the retarding trying to have a mosh pit was sickening. It was like a bunch of retarded people having seizures bouncing off each other. Friday the singer from unwritten law was drunk as hell and backstage he was laughing saying he was gonna fuck the hot 15 year old in the front row with nice tits haha. I was dissapointed more skiers didnt show up and that the weather sucked on friday but it was still a good time.

Just to let you all know, Rex's Mom and Dad did sell the strip club (sad!) but it is still up there and still the best place to be in Golden on a monday night (yeah fresh meat mondays!!)

Anyone happen to know who this is or what snowjam they're talking about?

i was volunteering at these things to help build the quarterpipe, and at the one in Ottawa I met Matt Harvey for the first time as a starry-eyed NSer.

Rest is history.
