I know im not the first to think of this, but.....

as i said earlier prove anything. It can't be done. Anything and everything that we perceive is bias. As far as human interpretation we can only prove what we see, but is our vision showing whats real? What is real? As far as we are concerned yes, what we see is real, but is there something greater? It's like time. Time is a human interpretation that we can not prove. Hell we made it up. Everything could have happened and still be happening at once, we just can't perceive it that way. Human perception is it's own kind so who are we to say whats real.

yea, or the trees and other plants themselves. trees and plants often get overlooked but they are the most important biotic organisms on earth. everyday every single person on the face of the earth should have to thank plants for photosynthesis.

I forget where I heard this but there's some doctor that said that exact same thing, he said its like a figment of imagination that things are still there after we leave because it's a just a memory for you, but for other people there it's still real for them. After that I forgot the rest cause i started questioning if people we're real if they weren't in seeing distance,so.....I don't know if that helped.

holy shit.. i really just spent time reading all of this thread, afraid i would miss something...now i have a head ache...

but if a person goes on a baby punching rampage in time square does and REAL person care...?

no because fuck babies.

You need to watch the Movie "what the bleep do we know" where it somewhat explains how this is 'true' through quantum physics. Its actually a really interesting movie in general.

new question
"If a man says something and a woman isn't around to hear it, is he still wrong?"
this is a question for the ages

This honestly think could work. I knew a kid that was color blind but he went through most of his life not knowing he was. They never had a reason to test him. However, if you pointed to something red, he knew it was red because all his life he was told that shade was red. red, yellow, green are all labels. If I told a kid from birth to the rest of his life that the color white as I know it is actually green. he would know it as green. your red to me could be my green

the statement "if a tree....." is a very backward way of looking at the situation. It's like whenever a small child is playing peakaboo and they link the other person has disspeared when their hands are over there face. Our nervous system just allows us to obverse the envoirment around us, it doesn't determine it. And our vision is just one interpritation based on the tiny spetrum of "visible light". There are so many things out there that we don't see are compleletly obvious to. Our reality is very limited.

If we can see it at one time it is always there. Things don't just go away. I think the better thing is to prove that they go away when no one is looking because if you can't prove that then your "theory" doesn't make sense.

from what i read here, i guess that this stuff is a little to intellectual for most.
he asks pretty much if our whole world is just a construction from our minds and "reality" is not something we can encounter. furthermore you could argue whether someone IS rich or IS CALLED rich. think of it, its not as stupid as it may sound.
of course, as relativity and most culture-things, you can live without it. but dont flame someone for asking something that is just to complex for you

this thread sucks. go read a philosophy book if you want to get some kicks about trees falling and making noises.

the answer is simple. You're using if, then statements. If A, then B. If a tree falls, then it makes noise. prove that wrong then you've got a case.

sure it still makes noise. just because no one hears it doesn't mean there is no noise....

i often think about this stuff when i'm high but its sort of stupid.

think about something important.

If a ninja falls in the forest, does it make a sound?

NO! Ninjas don't make a sound, ever! And if you DO hear a ninja, you're probably dead already!

What if there isn't anything, and one day someone will make a movie about it. It will be filmed with a green filter, and the only things that will have a color not severely tinted green will be a red pill and a blue pill.
