which is the first time I've ran more than two feet in probably a year. I feel fucking amazing. That's about it.

thats good. usually when the first track of the year practice is over, my calves are killing me and i feel like shit.

props, i just bought a new pair of running shoes and have been running all the time now. I feel incredible

yeah mna just goot the OK from the doc to start riding my bike again. i tore my ACL so i was out of servise for the longest time. still cant run, but im just counting down the days till i can. but yeah its good to get abck into the 10 miles a day on a bike, feels so great when your done.

odd then, isn't it, that the human body was adapted for running? let's list a few of those adaptations:

Brain: Hippocampus stimulation

running activates 33 genes in the brains center for mood, memory, and learning. also stimulates the formation of new brain cells and blood vessels.

Head: Flat face

humans lack the protruding snout of apes, so our heads are more balanced over our necks while in motion.

Neck: Nuchal ligament

this ligament helps stabilize your head and prevents it from pitching back and forth, a feature found only in mammals built for running, such as dogs.

Respiratory system: Mouth breathing

unlike the panting of many quadrupeds, human mouth breathing permits more airflow with les muscular effort, and helps repel heat.

Skin: sweat glands and less hair

we shed better than hairier mammals

Shoulders: low, broad shoulders

our wide shoulder span increases arm swinging, which counteracts the torque generated by our legs. otherwise our bodies would rotate and we'd be thrown off-balance. your head moves separately from your shoulders and trunk (ever see an ape do that?), so you can look forward as you run.

Ass: larger gluteus maximus muscle

extends the thigh to propel the body, keeps you from pitching over with forward momentum.

we look and function the way we do because our survival once depended on endurance running. when conditions are right, a man can run even the fastest antelope on earth to death by overheating, because we have sweat glands, and they don't. look up the Kalahari, their hunters were found to be doing just that in the early 1900s.

My metabolism is insane, I stay relatively in shape sitting around drinking and eating way too much food, it's kinda nice. What's killing me though is cigarettes... I had "we're horny so fuck it" sex with my ex about three weeks ago and like ten minutes in I was gulping in air like I'd never be able to breathe again... that was my sign, if I can't even fuck because my stamina is so bad, something needs to change. So I'm cutting back to five smokes a day and running... we'll see what happens.

Cross country conditioning just began, and each morning we run about 7 miles, you feel so good for the rest of the day! Unless its like a hardcore run, then you feel all sore and dont want to move at all for the remainder of the day.

got on my run status the other day with this chick i was diggin. I got through the first half fine minus almost throwing up the two plates of lasagna I ate 30min before hand, but after we stopped for 10 min to chill near the water and started up again my thighs knotted up. Felt like I had daggers stabbed in my thighs, everytime i stopped running they got worse. So I ran it out all the way home, felt fine after like a 20 min rest. yesterday and today was some of the worst soar leg muscles i've ever had in my life. The kind where you can't walk right, can't bend down, just miserable shit. but I like looking at her haha and it felt good for the first half so i'll probably be running again tomorrow haha

i hate running, my body is just not meant for it, my feet pronate a lot and my heels are fucked up as well as my knees and ankles, when i go for a run it never ends welli bike to get exercise, way more fun

The indigenous Kalahari Raramuri still run extremely long distances to catch injured prey...it's been said that they can run without stopping for something like 24 hours. So amazing.

damn i need to start running again, i could tell a huge difference when i used to bike alot, cause when i was into running the highest gear wasn't that high, now its almost a chore to get there :/
