yep. (this is just a vent, so it's not actually necessary to read)

i somehow felt inclined to run for my local school board. and crap. i got elected. for 4 years!

now i have everyone in the county talking to me about shit that i don't even have the power to do.... or asking if i'm even old enough to have ran. now the whole stupid county is watching every move i do!

so much for my illustrious career as a pole dancer at the local bar.

Nice!! I think its great for young people to get involved more in the community. The younger generation 20-25 are probably the most progressive people we have in this country right now. They know how to use the net, know how to communicate and since you were in high school not to long ago, you know the big problems.

Ever since I got involved with the Ron Paul campaign, Im starting to like politics more and more. I am now a Republican precinct member in my area and I get to vote for Paul in the February caucus in Montana. Im stoked. Im definitely considering trying to get more positions in the future, not sure what yet. Its alot of fun to be part of organizations and having a say in things.

I'm a student rep to the board of education for our district and it's pretty fun actually. If i lived in a more boring district (we have a lot of stuff going on cause we'rea a pretty big district) it seems like it could get super boring.

but i can't vote on stuff anyways so its not nearly as big of a commitment

i think its really cool what you did. you have the power to change things where you live. its amazing what one vote can do. congratulations! i really admire you.

I am intern with ForwardMontana, a non-partisan, non-profit progressive political organization in Missoula. Its really made a huge impact on my area and as an intern, i get to say i helped out. you, as a board member, are the change. keep it up.

is your name erin young? are you around 22?

did you say this? "But I’m happy to offer my two cents and get our School Board really rocking this year.”

1. Sell all the school books/school supplies

2.Buy shit loads of cystal meth, give in place of said school books

3. Start making basement meth, become kingpin dealer at all the schools

4. Run off to Nevada and fufill your dream as a millionaire poll dancer

that is actually me.  i'm 21. and i am happy to offer my two cents.

and i'm not looking to resign.  but as anyone familiar with school board will say, including the incumbents on mine, it's a huge responsibility and often times board members quickly become the most controversial members of the community.

i just had to vent about it, because i hate being accosted in the super market line or while i'm trying to eat out at a restaurant.

i ran for office because i didn't like the system of teaching that i had when i was there. but more importantly i believe that providing a more inquisitive based learning where we make students passionate about what they are learning will eventually lead to a more fruitful future for them as well as for everyone else. peace in general is generated through empathy and understanding of different situations and the foundations for that starts with education.

i also ran because i really get off when i'm in discussions about politics and improving our current state in them.

or maybe it was because i felt like i needed something to put on a resume besides ski bum.

i guess i made people interested in my vote, because i actually graduated from all of the summit system, and i can actually relate to the students as well as make them feel like they can actually talk to someone on the board. i was really pushing the need to adapt to a 21st century style of learning and i think that in my youth and having just gone through it, i am more qualified than other candidates to do so.

The more that I think about, I think it would be pretty easy to be elected to the school board while really young and barely out of college. Parents love the idea of the "new ideas" and fresh faces that can come up with new ideas and make things appeal to kids

yo if theres one thing you can do its to spark reform for the stupid ass drug laws in your county. fuck them. and by drug laws i mean punishment for sellers/buyers, and zoning laws that keep kids "safe". be informed and change the bull shit that ruins high school careers
