I pondered that as well. And I have taken the liberty to find out, and on some online encyclopedia, I find this, "On the Sublime album, the lyrics actually begin "April 26, 1992" however the Leary version of this track (found on Second Hand Smoke) quotes the correct date."

And yes, my dad says he remembers LA riots. All over the news.

i was born october 3rd 1987 in albany NY. now this isnt particularly amazing or nething but add to that the fact that there was a huge storm (remeber OCT 3 in north east, we usually dont see snow till december). anyway it snowed a few feet and everything was closed and everyone was out of power. this is a pretty good omen for a skier i would say.
