i woke up suddenly the other morning to an intense pain in my leg right behind the knee and in the upper calf. it was like all the muscles where tightening up and i couldnt relax them. i was rolling around in a LOT of pain for no apparent reason for about a minute until suddenly the pain left for some reason that i do not know. now the past two days the muscles in the back of my knee and upper calf have been really sore especially when stretching them out. wtf did i do?

no idea. but i did have a similar problem when i got out of bed one day and like threw out my shoulder. idk? haha

sounds like a muscle spasm in your sleep. not sure what would cause it but who knows what your brain can do. it makes sense it would be a little sore after contracting and working so hard.

it sounds like a charlie horse in your leg or whatever. freakin killl. i'll get them in my legs, then like you said, roll around and they go away.

this might sound really crazy lol but if it happens again trying stretching your leg straight out and pull your toes towards you and it should relax your muscle real quick, i get them in my feet and damn it hurts but the toe thing always works.

and i knew a girl at basketball camp like 5 years ago she kicked the thermostat on the wall in her sleep and broke her pinky toe...

im used to leg charlie horses they dont even bother me anymore, the shittiest kind are the ones in your neck under your chin, those are fucking painful.

^that occured to me when i was rolling around in pain so i tried it but it made it worse. what finally made it go away is was putting it at a 90 degree angle. i wouldnt really be too weirded out by this if it hadnt happened a few weeks ago too.

if your growing, it's probably growing pains. I had growing pains for like 3 nights in a row one time, and it sucked sooo bad.

I always get that after a day of pheasant hunting where I work my legs way harder than I ever do on a normal day. Its nothing unusual and its not an injury.

get out of bed and stand up, maybe take a few steps, puts more blood into your legs than in a laying postion

had it real bad a few weeks ago. i was so drunk too so getting waken up by a leg pain at 5 am while drunk will not put you in a good mood

i always hurt WAY more in the morning.

like if i hurt myself one day, then it's fine, and i think it won't hurt anymore, i wake up the nest morning, and it's killer, but goes away with the morning.

one time i had a dream that my best friend was laghing while he was drowning me in a pool, when i woke up, my neck hurt like hell and i couldnt breath for like 15 seconds. i deduced i must have been sleeping with my neck on my fist.

i have restless leg syndrome and it takes me hours to fall asleep it sucks. does anyone else have this. it wakes me up in the middle of the night and im just ready to go do something at like 4 in the morning. uhhh i fucking hate it. thats why im on at2 in da mourn. well newayyzz.... imma try to get some sleep...

later

werddddd, tramadol really helps though if you really need something to just make your body chill cus its made for restless leg syndrome, its kind of addictive though if you start takng alot

ive only gotten one bottle for my foot awhile back tho. Its synthetic morphine though.

but anywai

i keep doing this kind of stuff all the time now, my shoulder was hurting for like a week before and i had no idea why

yep ive had 2 or 3, its called a charlie horse yes, you wake up and scream or just feel mad pain right there. then just put your legs out strait and bend your toes to try to get it to go away

i get these alot and they hurt like hell. it means your dehydrated. drink some water before going to bed

yeah and it fuckin hurts like hell. like you cant move them because if you do it hurts even more. holy shit its gotta be the worse way to wake up

Yeah, it really is horrible.

I got a really bad one when I went biking in the afternoon, then straight to the bars in the evening. I was already on the verge of dehydration, and the boozing just sent it over the top. 5am, bam, felt like someone was stabbing a fork in my calf and just twisting it around.

no, thats not it. ive had the good flesh eating disease for ever. its totally an accessory

hahaha its so simple. Your leg just cramped up. you need potassium (bananas) and some water. you need to exercise and stretch your leg too if you want the soreness to go away

it used to happen to me all the time still does once in a while, it's a muscle spasm, and yeah it hurts like hell and there isn't really shit you can do about it except wait it out

sounds like a muscle spasm, i had one it my back and it was sooo painfull.. whenever i tried to move it was like a needle getting shuved up my back.

yeah i guess i could see it being dehydration. the day b4 i had marching band practice (i know its lame) in the morning and it was like 100 degrees and then went to work for 8 hours in the evening, where even if i do get a chance to get a drink its just soda anyway

yeah it happens to me all the time just drink as much water as you can during the day if it starts happening all the time

those stupid charlies horse sucks ass. i can make them go away in a sec then go right back to sleeping cause ive had a bunch of those back then.

whats with most of you saying you need potassium, its calcium, magnesium and liquid that you need.

Nutrition & Muscle Cramps

Nutrition also plays an important role. The body needs sufficient amounts of calcium and magnesium to support optimal muscular function. Because the body cannot manufacture these two minerals, it must be supplied with them in foods and beverages. An inadequate supply of calcium and magnesium can lead to problems with muscular coordination. Mineral deficiency generally manifests itself as an increased tendency to suffer muscle cramps and "charlie horses". The best sources of calcium are milk and dairy products (e.g. yogurt, cultured milk, cheese, etc.). Milk and dairy products are the only sources of calcium that are worthy of mention; if no such foods are eaten, then one should definitely drink calcium-rich mineral water (150 mg of calcium per 100 ml of water) or eat calcium-enriched foods such as breakfast cereals or special energy bars. Some of the newer calcium supplements may also be helpful.

The best way to improve one's supply of magnesium is to drink a suitable mineral water that contains at least 50 mg of magnesium per 100 ml of water. Athletes are particularly at risk because increased perspiration causes greater mineral losses, and these losses must be compensated for. Dehydration can also manifest itself as problems with muscular coordination or as cramps, so athletes should drink mineral-rich athletic beverages before and during workouts, especially when the temperatures are high and the stress is intensive.

let it go a few days, it will be sore and then go away. sometimes my neck or arm will hurt if I sleep in an odd position. the worst was when I woke up and my arm was completely weird feeling and I could barely feel it or use it. It scared the crap out of me, I was lying on it for a few hours I guess and it slowed circulation. after a long time I could finally feel it with pins and needles and then it slowly returned to normal and I went back to bed.

that sucks, my leg fell asleep one time while i was sleeping, and i woke up and my entire leg was numb, it sucked cuz afterwards you have that really annoying tingling sensation for like 15minutes, it sucked it was like torture
